Racing

As iv not road raced before could some one look after me at cadwell to make sure iv got my bike up to standard (should be). just to make sur i get to the grid on time , inspection ,etc.

AK 15-Feb-2006 21:18

I'll be around all day on Saturday Dominic, so pop over whilst its still light & I'll take a look at the bike if you like, before you run it down for scrut? - you can keep Paul company in going to the grid, as its his first time out too.
Andy (hopefully) will be there, so can guide you if you want any northern muppetry advice:D

anyone will help out where they can; most importantly you need to make sure you have 10 psi or less front and rear, then you'll be fine.

domski 15-Feb-2006 21:59

You'll find that everyone is really helpful, and racers in general are very nice people. Often last year the majority of DD'ers were parked together (ish) so you'll soon realise when it's time to do things, and you'll always have plenty of 'hands' if you need help.

ericthered40 15-Feb-2006 22:13

yeah there's more ringers here, than you'd find in a ring factory.

Dominic Clegg 16-Feb-2006 19:26

just one off thing it was run by racedays the race in velencia. iv raced motorcross and done a few trackday

so never real been involed with road racing so dont know the procedure.

madcowracing41 16-Feb-2006 21:40

hi all i,m new to the game as well looking forward to it cadwell looks a good fun track :devil:
any body got track times for the 583cc for last year find out if i,m up to speed

Zimbo16 16-Feb-2006 22:09

I'd expect the faster 583s to be doing mid 1.50s, but there'll be quite a range of speed and experience so I shouldn't worry about it too much!

<edit: just checked, last year's fastest 583 (of just a handful of 583s on the grid) was Skidlids, 1.54.>

Dominic,

Good to see someone from Yorks getting stuck in. Good luck for 2006.

If you look up the New Era site they have all the times from the races under results 2005.

Not that they have been of any interest to me

domski 16-Feb-2006 23:18

UNOFFICIAL LAP RECORDS

I removed the 675's coz they're irrelevant - like last year

dickieducati 17-Feb-2006 09:06

there's a pattern emerging there :eureka:

can we go race yet..................

Bring on the" Ringers" ... they aint a concern for me............................

Phil

Fastest 583 in town....:frog:

Chris Wood 17-Feb-2006 10:09

With the advancement in technology and space age materials in 583cc....I'd expect a 1.50 lap at Cadwell would be quick enough:P

1.50 will be top spots for sure.............who can get 1.50's on a 583 at cadwell other than me then.?

:D

TP 17-Feb-2006 11:10

If it's warm and conditions are good those Cadwell times will drop. I wasn't there, I was nursing a broken ankle at home, but I hear it was still a bit cool etc.

I'd expect the front runners of 583's to be doing around the 1:50 or just under, 1:49's etc.

the quickest 583 was 1.54 ish..u think a 4 or 5 second improvement is on the cards..........WHO do you know who is entering that we dont lol.................

in seriousness..i think a 1.50 will be a tuff ask for a 583....

Yep, I reckon. That big bore kit gave you stuff all power and torque through the range so I don't actually believe the bike will be much slower at all for the loss of it.

If it's warm and conditions are good that will easily be worth a few seconds and you'll naturally go quicker as your experience grows etc. You were doing 1:52's last year. You can easily find 2 seconds at Cadwell.

If it's warm etc then I'll be disappointed if I don't get down into the 1:47's which is what I did on the monster with supercorsa's at the MRO round last year.
