avatar!!

why wont it let me change my bloody avatar!!

file size is fine, does not bring up any error messages....been trying to do this for ages now and im not doing anything different.

Harv748 21-Feb-2006 12:00

I've noticed that...tried changing mine on a couple of occasions...even logging off and then back on again, but no joy. Gave up in the end.

Webteam...whats the secret?

khushy 21-Feb-2006 12:05

I had the same problem yesterday - tried loading a new avatar from file - dint work - tried this morning where I have uploaded a new one to a www address - worked fine.

if you send me your avatar - I will upload it to my domain and send you the address - you should be able to upload it then.

Khushy

send it to mail@khushy.com

I can even resize it for you - no problem.

I noticed that avatars hosted by the DSC are no longer being displayed.

If they are hosted on your own server or on another hosted service, as is mine, then no problem.

Mines dissapeared completely!:mad::flame::mad:

rockhopper 21-Feb-2006 13:28

They are all working fine from where i'm sitting!

so is mine mate.

keefer 21-Feb-2006 13:32

mine is hosted by the DSC and its still there.
think they want people to remove moving avatars though

Webteam 21-Feb-2006 13:33

The majority of avatars stored on the DSC server are working OK - however some are not (including webteam !) - I'll look into this later tonight.

Avatars hosted on external servers, don't seem to be affected.

In both cases, avatars must be JPG type files - previously we had both JPG and GIF, but we have found performance problems with some of the GIF images and so we have changed the board to only accept the JPG versions.

If anyone is having problems uploading their avatar onto the DSC server, email it to webteam quoting your board name and we can load it on your behalf.

Eamonn.

revdecal 21-Feb-2006 13:34

point is though, attatching one through the 'browse' option does not work.

yes its jpeg, yes its the right size.

if it never works, remove the option completely as it's a pain in the bottom!!

i could host a picture via my own website etc...but thats not the point.

Rant over:D

Webteam 21-Feb-2006 13:35

Let me revise that last post of mine.....

The majority of DSC hosted avatars were working fine last night - there appears to be a problem right now though !!!

Like I said, I'll check later today...

WeeIan should obviously - ALWAYS - be exempt from having his avatar removed

Ryan,

Nice piccy - is that Harrison's Rocks near Tunbridge Wells or Almscliffe near Leeds/Otley?

I gave up climbing when I got my 748 back in 98...I thought that two dangerous sports would be pushing my luck too far!!

Sold that bike yet?

Richard

Yes mate, its Harrisons. I do rope up though unless its indoors at Mile End.

It was cached - if I could only see your last one as well, I held down the ctrl key and hit f5 and it refreshed everything.
