WSB Qatar Qualifying 2 - Roll on superpole! Bayliss holds provisional pole! Ducati Xerox's Troy Bayliss left it to the last seconds of second qualifying to take provisional pole away from fellow Aussie Karl Muggeridge, ahead of this afternoon's Superpole session in Qatar. Bayliss lapped in a blistering 2mins 00.639secs, well under the lap record of 2mins 01.244 secs set by Troy Corser last year. In fact the top four riders were all under the lap record and they are all Australian, with Pitt taking third place and Corser taking up fourth place behind his fellow country men. Early in the session it was Noriyuki Haga and Yukio Kagayama who were setting the pace. Haga placed his R1 in fifth position at the end of the session with Kagayama in seventh place. Chris Walker on the PSG-1 Kawasaki has gone forward to Superpole, qualifying in thirteenth place. Unfortunately his French team-mate, Regis Laconi didn't make the cut, qualifying in seventeenth place. Steve Martin qualified in seventh place; however he managed to take the Petronas up to third place mid session. His new British team-mate Craig Jones wasn't so fortunate and failed to qualify following a spill early in the session. Kagayama and Clementi also crashed. WSBK qualifying (2) results – Qatar: 1.Troy Bayliss 2.Karl Muggeridge 3.Andrew Pitt 4.Troy Corser 5.Noriyuki Haga 6.Lorenzo Lanzi 7.Yukio Kagayama 8.Steve Martin 9.James Toseland 10.Frankie Chili |

Well there, I've just learned something today. Robbie Rolfo is a qualified optometrist. Makes my optometrist look a bit boring! He turned down the D'Antin Ducati in MotoGP to take the WSB ride! Interesting move ... |
