[Edited on 24-2-2006 by Chris Wood]

Silverstone... my mate told me that's the best place to set up the bike suspensions... the 12th is a Sunday... looks interresting :)

What company does the trackday?

Tonio600 24-Feb-2006 17:41

Focused Events... and it's full :(

AK 24-Feb-2006 17:42

took plastics off - AndyJ (re)painted them before xmas.

AK removed 620 engine from Snot - cos someone wanted it;) - and refitted the 583, without the big bore.

Otherwise - zilch.

Got to wash the girls off, as only unloaded the van last nite, from Brands trackday last w/end, and boy are they a grubby little pair of ladies!:o

C:)

multi600 24-Feb-2006 17:44

I've taken mine apart. So all I have to do is put it all back together:( and hope it still works.

Mike

I would think that it's the worst place for suspension set-up as it's so smooth and flat.

Also, no 2 tracks are the same, so why would you set up your suspension for Silverstone when we don't even race there?

You'll find yourself flat out in top gear for 90% of it too.

I'd save your money and do a track we race on - Oulton? for example. They have a trackday on 11th March and we're racing there.

Have you been there before?

Could be a good reason to learn it.

Chris Wood 24-Feb-2006 17:51

I'm at Silverstone cause it's 10 miles from me and Mallory 30 miles....I'm a BIG fan of Silverstone GP...on my 748RS at least...the DD may feel underpowered!!!!

All about time on the bike for me!

Suspension setup.....what's that ????

Tonio, call Focussed, their website isn't accurate for numbers,Skids and Kev are there too on DD bikes.

Because I've invested in a nice Ohlins shock and according to him a flat track is the best place to play with the 3 settings :D

Because it's flat so may be a good way of doing a "global" setup of the suspensions...

That's what he explained me and I quite agreed with him. Now you can convince me as well  Be good :D

domski 24-Feb-2006 19:07

"How little race prep have you done??"

.....

"Anyone else done nothing?"

I had great plans of sorting mine out over the winter, maybe getting a PC3, dyno setup etc, instead I've done nothing to it since I got it off Tonio, mainly because it seemed to work fine when I tested it at Donny before xmas. If it aint broke ...

I'll service it (check valves and change belts, oils, filters etc) in the next week or two, when it warms up abit :D

domski 24-Feb-2006 21:46

Yeah, you wanna make sure those valves are taken out, they'll cause havoc otherwise ;)

skidlids 24-Feb-2006 21:57

I have done absoloutely nothing since I returned from the last round at Cadwell other than remove the transponder and battery.
Tomorrow I will get the bike out of the back of the van where it has been since our last DD meeting, only because I need to make room in there for another bike.
Got Silverstone GP Booked on the 12th, like Chris I enjoy the GP circuit, don't like the other circuits there. Will check the bike over a day or two before the trackday, fresh fuel, check tyre pressures, oil and filter change, charge the battery and refit it.
No intention of doing anything else before the trackday, once that is out of the way I will be looking at swapping the fairing to a black one and fitting the Yellow number boards.
And that will be me ready for Cadwell.
Probably do most of the Silverstone GP trackday on the 996 (or possibly a bike I don't have yet)

GlennG 24-Feb-2006 23:03

"Yeah, you wanna make sure those valves are taken out, they'll cause havoc otherwise "
