Thoughts on 999\'s Been looking at a couple of 999's One was brand new standard 999 with the new red frame, improved front nose etc. - £11,000 The other was an 04 999s, Termi's, Ohlins shocks, Ohlins Steering Damper, Carbon rear hugger, white number boards on rear, with 3K on the clock. - £10,000 Just wondering which people would choose given the option? |
hard one to call that one mate .:puzzled: |
i would plump for 04 999s.if its the black swingarm model. |
if the 999s is a 2004 with red frame and new style arm I would go for the S. Will hold a better 2nd hand value and be easier to sell on. |
the 04 is to much I think but I like the look of the 04 more and you get the s bits as well, but I bought my 04 999s new for £9999, but for me it's the 04s and try and get some more money off, any way thats my thoughts :flame::burn::burn: |

Yeah it's 0% finance on new 999's and I'm sure I read somewhere that the new standard 999 was basically an S model?? As it has increased horspower etc? I'm not sure how much of this bike has been modded beyond the standard S, do Termi's come as standard on the S?? It's the grey frame model with the higher vents on the front nose cone, it also has a chip in the paint work above the head light. I'm not really in a financial position to get it just yet as I don't really want to trade in my 748 I'd rather stretch to keeping both if I can. [Edited on 26-2-2006 by 748IOM] |

04 S doesn't come with termi's (05 and later did but only steel end can i think) 04 S has radial lever brakes not radial calipers ( stand 999 05 doesn't have either, 05 S has full radial) 04 S has Ohlins forks, 05 999 has Showa, 04 S has Ohlins rear shock, 05 has Showa, 04 S has cast grey swingarm, 05 999 has new welded version. Power is about the same but I'm not certain if thats the year Ducati altered their power figures as well. I went for an 04 S at 10K against an 05 999 purely for the suspension, it makes more difference than the swingarm will. |
I'd agree with Gizmo - go for the Ohlins bike. Suspension is the best upgrade you can make. However, I would try and get the price down a bit. |
either one as long as it's not red preferably this colour |
