Displaying Minichamps 1/12

Now I have a 'collection' well 3 I thought I had better get some display cases.

So what do people on here use. I see the official Minichamps ones are on offer at £7.99 each but is there a better and cheaper alternative?

LesPaul 01-Mar-2006 11:59

I have a couple of these from Ikea

Ozz 01-Mar-2006 20:46

Is it glass or plastic frontage?

748rosso 01-Mar-2006 20:58

Helps if I read your original post correctly!

Paul996 02-Mar-2006 14:03

I use the same as LesPaul, made for CD's I think but look good. Makes you go and buy more models :D:D

LesPaul 02-Mar-2006 14:15

I also have a couple of these display cases, £24.90 from Ikea, you can fit 3 Minichamps on each shelf so 9 in total :).
And yes to much of my life has been wasted being dragged around Ikea by the wife

Wife says we have to go to Ikea!

Collection now expanded to 6.....

adam 07-Mar-2006 19:49

I was using a large bookcase, but having bought a few more minichamps i need something larger, just counted 51 bikes with 14 on order, the Ikea ones look nice good to have lights in there also, might need to buy a few of these.

Ozz 07-Mar-2006 20:24

65!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG

adam 07-Mar-2006 21:39

I love collecting them ozz, I keep telling my wife they are an investment for our daughters:D there is a bayliss on ebay for £410, go on ozz ;)

Gulp! My most expensive one is £39 so far!

I do kick myself that a couple of years ago I bought the Bayliss 2002 one but had the option of the 2001 Imola one. Doh!

FiscusFish 08-Mar-2006 11:18

Why is the Silver Imola one valuable..?

Ozz 08-Mar-2006 11:31

Not sure. The 2001 normal Bayliss is pretty expensive now too. Just the 2002 which you can get for £10 (plus a bit).

Ozz 08-Mar-2006 12:53

Just ordered two Rossi Yams on pre-order.

Was also going to buy Lavilla or Haslam BSB 999. But which one? Would welcome collectors views as to which one would be the better investment.

adam 08-Mar-2006 17:59

in the end mate they will all be worth money. the Lavilla should be worth more as he won the championship. I buy the bikes even if they didnt win, i just like the look of them.

If you are after investments then buy all championship winning bikes, all special Rossi bikes, and if you can stretch then get the early Rossi ones and early Bayliss bikes.
Because Bayliss has come back to Ducati then I think all his bikes will be worth collecting. I have just put a bid in or the 2000 Bayliss on ebay.

I hate to think how much the Bayliss 2000 is....

adam 08-Mar-2006 22:50

bought it:D

Ozz 08-Mar-2006 23:42

Go on then how much??

Ozz 09-Mar-2006 23:17

Just ordered Toseland 2004 and Lavilla 2005 so need a cabinet.

Anyone coming to my BSB hospitality going to Ikea or live near one? I would be appreciative!

In fact if you are not coming but live near one I am sure I could do a special ticket deal.
