for a job interview - a 2nd one at the same place:o

I think I might get the job (being positive now:lol: ) but do I take it?

I've had a good deal from company who is making me redundant, in that i dont need to get a job till end of the summer.

However, if I do get a job to follow straight on at the end of this month when I go from here, I'd then have some money in the bank to have a good hol, or get anuvver bike with:devil:

But, I have never had 'time out' from work, not since I started working, (a few years ago now:o )

AK is telling me to take time out, I'm not so sure....

write all the options down on paper. Pros, cons, advantage, disadvantage etcetera.
The company that is making you redundant - would you be going back for better rate? or are they selecting you because it saves them advertising/interviewing/unkown quantity etcetera.
I personally would treat each job offer on it's own as a completely NEW job. i.e. make your old company pay full wack on your job responsibilities - after all, it's them that gets the profit - right?

Then after all that consideration - tell the new company that you had a two week holiday booked for march and you've had no holidays whatsoever this year. You should then get full entitlement of 28 days.

guest1, all staff except 5 are going, as the company has been sold out. The remaining staff will move up to the London branch of the new company. Not an option to stay for the rest of us.

Good deal out of them tho, so fair play, particularly as i have only been here 3 years.

I need to factor in my dad too, as he is now rather unwell, and I have been able to pop out to see him, making time up. I dont think a new company might be so accomodating.

Q's
- Will the new company wait for a month or so?
- Do you need to take lots of time off, or just fancy an extended break?
- Are there many job opportunities out there at the mo?
- likelyhood of getting a job at a later date?

The idea of Pros and Cons is a good one. A chance to have a break might be too good to miss though.

C, I've done it twice now, both 6 month breaks after volunteering for redundancy, no regrets and I'd even go so far as to say doing it altered everything for the better, I wouldn't have the job I have now, wouldn't have done half the things I have done. Think positvely on it and its an opportunity to do something for you, use the time, explore what you really want to do then make a decision, you'd have been at work if it hadn't happened so the times paid for its just what you do with it that makes the difference..... :)

take time out - nobody says on their deathbed that they wish they had spent more time at work. The time gaps in candidate CVs are only an issue if they are unaccounted for.

And if you are buying new bikes with one months salary then you need to ditch Alan and come over for some chicken-lovin' ;)

CK, are you hard working, honest, willing to help when needed and not scared of challenges? have you considered it might not be luck that you've never been out of work?? are you prepared to take a risk and if it don't work try your hand at other things to pay the bills? answer yes to most of that and you've made the decision without making it, if you know what i mean :D

Even if its only a couple of weeks out, it gives you a chance to chill out, change gears and come back fresh. If they're really keen to have you, 2 weeks or so oughtn't to be a problem
