Solo seat for ss

Anyone have a solo seat they want to get rid of?

All the best,

Dave.

I am after one of these if you find any at a reasonable price Dave. Give me a shout, Ta Kev

Very expensive, but I do like the look of the Brancato seat. Can be bought painted with all the necessary fittings.

Nice seat unit - shame they were so rude and unhelpful to me when I phoned them enquiring about bodywork - so much so I won't bother again.

Herb 07-Mar-2006 09:38

I have only used Brancato once but got excellent service. Thought they were pretty helpful.

Same here - I bought the SS mirror extensions from them and only had great service. You must have caught them on a bad day.

Thanks for the info.

Any idea as to the quality of the Ricambi-Weiss stuff? Seem to recall hearing mixed comments re. quality - anyone had first hand experience?

The Brancato stuff looks good, but any idea as to how much it might be??

Cheers,

Dave.

You will have to give them a call to find out exactly. If I remember correctly you are looking at £350 + finished. Like I said, very expensive, but looks like it might be a nice seat.

I bought a Ricambi-Weiss seat off e-bay a while back - quality wise it was OK I guess. I don't think the mould they use is great but after 1/2 an hour of rubbing down it was OK - it only cost me 30 squids so Im not complaining and now it's been sprayed it looks great.
Oh, one other thing - you'll need to knock up a bracket or support to sit the seat on the bike frame or all your weight will be on the four mounting holes - I used a bit of wood which seems to do the job ok.

'Nother vote for Ricambi. As has been said the quality isn't superb, but it's certainly not that bad and considering the price its pretty amazing...

I'm looking for a road seat Kev.

All things considered, I think I'll probably give the Ricambi one a go...

Although that won't be for a while now as I found out today that my debit card has been cloned and some thieving scum has completely emptied my bank account over the past couple of days, withdrawing cash in Central London!!!

What has really pi**ed me off is that I don't get paid holiday and it has taken months to save up the money to take some time off and they have had the lot!!!

No doubt it will be spent on bling or drugs.

Never say things can't get any worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red-leader 08-Mar-2006 23:54

Sorry to hear that Dave, I will make some more enquires then go for it. I only want a cheap road going one myself.
I will keep you posted.

FiscusFish 09-Mar-2006 10:38

Does it have to be a Superlight style or would something else do?

Zimbo 09-Mar-2006 10:44

Interesting reading - Maybe for future projects later in the year...
Anyone have any pics of a Ricambi unit painted and fitted?

Cy

adk 09-Mar-2006 14:49

I've got a picture on the camera at home - I'll see if I can work out how to download it when I get home....

adk 09-Mar-2006 19:01

Here we are - picture of Ricambi unit paited and fitted..

adk 09-Mar-2006 19:07

..and another one. Sorry abvout the size of the files but that's how they came off the camera and I dunno how to compress them or anything like that. Bloody technology eh

Fiver 09-Mar-2006 19:07

That looks really nice!

Did you have the seat pad made to fit? or is it an off the shelf item?

Cy

twpd 09-Mar-2006 19:11

The Ricambi ss stuff looks to be better than the ssie stuff which, just doesn't seem to fit.

Red-leader 09-Mar-2006 19:12

That will do me. What one was it, there seems to be choice on the web site.
Kev

Zimbo 10-Mar-2006 01:01

Adk, where did you get it painted?

adk 10-Mar-2006 09:57

For the seat pads I was originally going to get some sticky foam from Ricambi but then found this fella on e-bay - item no 8044117683. The only trouble is the guy doesnt take paypal so you have to do a bank transfer which is ok if you don't have a skanking bank like mine that charges you £15.00 to do it - so In the end it worked out quite expensive but I only paid about 30 quid for the seat unit itself so I wasnt too ****ed off.
The seat was one of these - ebay item no 8044954220 which I've noticed on the Ricambi website for 10 euros less but Im sure you can pick them up cheaper if you hunt around a bit. You get a huge great mould line down the middle of seat but a bit of rubbing down soon gets rid of it.
Oh, and a fella called Densley Charles Coachwork in Cambridge painted it for me for 30 quid which I didnt think was too bad. The place looks a right dump but my local bike shop recommended him and he did a nice job of it.
