homesick

Nothing wrong with England at all...
I just spent a few days in France with family and friends... That was bl00dy good :(

And now I'm here, alone with Julie and the bikes.

That kind of thing makes you think... Why leaving France at the beginning? Is adding fun to the life more important than living near people who love? I can't believe it but I even miss my mother.

I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day.

phillc 07-Mar-2006 14:20

Don't even go there! Over 5 years since I left Australia, 3 years since I went back for my last visit, it's cold and wet outside......

Why am I here? Because I'm not there. That's about as concise as I can be.

Get drunk and don't think about it

Michael J 07-Mar-2006 14:20

I understand how you feel mate. I've lived in North Wales for 15 months:pig:

Tonio600 07-Mar-2006 14:24

you made me laugh, cheers mate :)

I think most people go back to their homeland when possible. The security of family, the ability to communicate without thinking about it, the memories associated with the area you grew up in, all conspire to drag you back home.

As much as I think england sucks dogs willies I have to admit there's nowhere I'd rather live. It's the first place that the missus and I have been happy together, and the diversity of life and people help keep you sane.

t5mission 07-Mar-2006 14:37

Of late if feel it every weekday and today especially. I spend the weekends in stoke with debs and the kids and work in suffolk during the week. Even though this is officially my home I don't think of it that way anymore. I never wanted the wife kids thing as scooter916 and scooterbabe will tell you but now I have gained them I can't imagine being without them. The weeks are dragging more than ever now the moving in date is getting closer. Oh well it's only 3 more weeks.

I know its not quite the same but feels just as crappy.

I'm not homesick Tonio, but I wish I lived in France!

Tonio600 07-Mar-2006 20:22

Don't say that. France is not a better place where to live. Just like the UK is not a better one either.
Our countries are different and each of them can offer things the other one can't.(*)

Now you could have been sad if you were German mate.:lol::lol::lol:

Anyway, mood is a lot better, I'm home with my girlfriend and my Guiness (which are actually 2 distinct entities :D )

(*): the only important thing is that we kick England's ass on Sunday

I think you hit the "K" key by mistake, instead of the "L" :frog:

domski 08-Mar-2006 01:15

I can make you feel better Antoine...

I'm thinking of moving to France

Bet you're not homesick now!! The UK seems good again

twpd 08-Mar-2006 01:24

I wanna leave the UK. I'm sure I'd miss it but, for now, I've had enough. I lived/worked in other countries for long periods - I know there's better to be had but, my mum is getting old and I'm all she's got...so I stay.

rcgbob44 08-Mar-2006 22:43

I`m thinking of going to southern Ireland or Itally,

Fed up with being screwed for taxes etc over here.

andyb 09-Mar-2006 00:01

Just think of the money and freebies.......most that come here do!

TP 09-Mar-2006 00:07

I haven't been home to Aus for 4 years and I'm missing it now.

There's things I can do here that I can't at home, and vice versa. Once there's more appeal to do the things at home and less appeal to do the things I can do here - racing included, then I'll go home.

That's the current plan anyway.

I have the opportunity to move to Aus this year. Not sure quite what to do as wanted to move elsewhere and that was how I was thinking until very recently.
NZ is still on the cards too as we can go there. I know i'll kick myself if I don't take whats on offer. England pulls no heartstrings for me at all. Scotland however does and always will. But then given the weather in Scotland compared to Aus - Hmmmm . The lifestyle in Aus is so laid back, people are friendly and not greedy, rocking up to a park with an Eski and a chilled WA white watching the sun go down is great. Catching Blue crabs off the jetty for tea. Swimming in the ocean with Dolphins - cool ! Perth maybe the most isolated city in the world but my is it lovely. I don't like cities but I loved it there. Also the way people are, more outdoor entertaining with friends, most excellent.

Sure there must be a downside - just ain't thought of it yet :D

Oh yeah - the bikers out there - welcome to the 60's guys - very scary!!!!!!!

Tonio,

Stu748R 09-Mar-2006 10:04

I cant go wrong coz i'm half English and half French.

Tonio600 09-Mar-2006 10:08

Cheers Paul, that's so good to read that :)

Actually I'm very happy in your country. That's just that the day after coming back in England, I missed people I love a lot. But now that's it, I just forgot them

No joking, I still miss France, but I love my life here. Do you think I could get the dual nationality French / British one day? Would be great, I would be sure my countries to win 100% of the 6 nations

(sorry Irish and Italian friends  )

Loz 09-Mar-2006 20:56

Antoine
I'll swap my British nationality with your French one, how's that?

(I'll keep my U.S. citizenship for "just in case")

Skids, if you're reading this, I don't know whether hornets are good eating but I'm sure they'll just love you!
