:lol::lol: dont think anyone takes me that seriously!

if you have phone or internet banking you could do a transfer, lots easier, you'll just need their IBAN (international bank account number) is a pain tho, dont you just love banks!

swannymere 12-Mar-2006 14:14

:saint:I'll hold off with the jam for the moment,i've got internet banking, does the recipient have to have it as well?

wilf 12-Mar-2006 14:18

dont think so, you should be able to set up a transfer, takes about 3-4 days to get there. varies with different internet accounts, got to be worth a try??

swannymere 12-Mar-2006 14:23

:puzzled:I'll ring the bank thanks for the help,i'll save the jam for some tarts.:eureka:

wilf 12-Mar-2006 14:25

now that sounds like a party! not sure calling young women tarts is the pc thing to do anymore:lol:

How strange, I'm in EXACTLY the same situation for a set of lovely machined exhaust rings for my Duke.

The guy has given me all his IBAN details blah, blah, etc but since the value is only £25 - I'm reluctant to pay more than a tenner or so to get the money to him.

DO a search for money transfer in google or ask.co.uk - there was very cheap one I found that lets you transfer money to someones Visa card.

My amount is only very small so I'm actually considering just getting the Euro bills from the post office - sticking them in a jiffy bag and sending it via some insured method - I remember doing this before and it worked a treat!

Add me to the list. Just won something from Germany and have the guys IBAN details. Can I transfer money from my Internet Bank account ???

I thought I would need sort codes and account numbers etc.

Item is less than £20 incl P&P so I don't fancy paying £10 in charges.

Can I do this via my internet bank account and not incur charges :puzzled:

Iconic944ss 12-Mar-2006 17:32

easy answer is NOPE!

I asked my bank (HSBC) and they want £20 for a bank transfer.

Sadly, I was told that UK cheques cant be wrote out for EURO's but I have looked on the net and seen that ex-pats abroad often get cheques from the UK made out in pounds sterling and only have a nominal fee to cash them to their local account.

I'll be sending Euro's I think.

I know some people detest Paypal but it does make life easier!

F

ps - BTW from the post office website I see that postal orders cant be cashed in Germany :-(
But they do their own money transfer scheme:

:D The vendor has just got back to me,he says he knows the english are trustworthy (very true) so he will post me the item and when i've recieved it to send him the cash in € or £,result.:D

if you send me the info , ill get my wife to sort it out for you as shes back in germany ....

Barclays want £20 to transfer money using IBAN etc. I bought a clutch holding tool recently from Austria. Total cost 42 euros, so I wasn't too keen on spending another 30 or so euros on the money transfer.

I just sent cash and hoped that the person at the other end was honest. It's a risk worth taking for small amounts.

Thanks very much for the offer, but the vendor seems more than happy to send the item and then wait for the cash?:o

I bought that clutch tool from the same guys. sent them cash and it turned up last week. I think it's always worth sending cash for smaller amounts.
