Bevans big ride Hey Paul, how was the big ride weekend. Did everyone make it? Griff |
missed it, had too much to do around home. apparently it was a good ride, no spills, no tickets. should have gone.......oh well, next time i guess.:sing: |
Ok, Hi you lot this is just a test to see if I got this Bloody avatar thing to work. Also havn't been on a ride for yonks, too damn hot. |
Well that went just great, this is the last try. Thanks for the space Griff. Rob |

:flame::flame::puzzled::puzzled: I don't believe in avatars exist |
Got a ride out this Sunday But may be a bit of a round trip for you guys <--------- Hopefully proof that Avatars do exist |

This is a long standing problem with the boards , Not to sure what the problem is but you could try uploading the avatar then log out of the forum , clear your webcache then log back into the forum , No guarantees but that has worked for me in the past . Hmmm , What format is your Avatar ? It needs to be in JPG format and its case sensitive for some reason :puzzled: I tried getting .jpg to work but all I got where errors , In the end I just renamed it avatar.JPG on my host and it worked :puzzled: Paul [Edited on 6-4-2006 by Screwy] |
Hi Paul, thanks for the info, I think I read somewhere else that you were saying about the case sensitivity. Well I tried that as well but to no avail. Eamon was having a look into it for me also, he sent me an avatar to try but that didn't work either. Strange how these little unimportant things get you by the short and curleys and you can't let them go untill you've beaten them. I don't think that came out right, anyway thanks again. Rob |
Hmmmm well all you can check is the avatar size , 155x155 max ,Theres no mention in the faq about a kb limit but I have had problems in the past so would suggest you try and keep it under 25kbs . For reference ,http://www.screwcutter.pwp.blueyonde...mages/e102.JPG is the url for my avatar note the file type is .JPG not .jpg . If you want , give me a link to your avatar and I will upload it and we can see if that works . [Edited on 7-4-2006 by Screwy] |
Thanks Paul, I have been using this site http://www.theimagehosting.com/ but that didn't seem to work either. I think what I should do is leave the Bloody things and come back later. I have sent you a 155 size pic, if you think you can be successful go your hardest. Cheers. |
You have mail ;) [Edited on 9-4-2006 by Screwy] |
try again |
I was talking about these missing Avatars with Eamonn earlier and we were wondering if you have tried refreshing using the F5 key, then again if that was the case I should be able to see it so somethings not right somewhere [Edited on 9-4-2006 by skidlids] |
Well its beyond me why it wont work ,The only thing I can think of is that he,s on a Mac and thats the problem . |
Maybe there are some other mac users out there with an avatar who may know if there is a trick to success using a mac. Thanks for all the input guys, but I think it maybe time to let it rest for awhile. May you all get in many great rides now that your summer is on the way. Rob:roll: |
Nah we aint giving up yet ,Could you just go through the procedure you use in Control Panel/Options ? Maybe its something blindingly obvious .:D |
You are a glutton for punishment Paul. Here is the procedure I've been doing. in edit profile, choose file, select JPG you sent me,it comes up to show it's been chosen, hit edit profile. New screen comes up with error message,"wrong file type "image/jpg" the file must be in .JPG format. The other way, when I used the image hosting sites after hitting edit profile I get a new screen flash up fast then disappear saying my edit was successful. But still no avatar. So that is what I am doing, is that basically what you have done. cheers, Rob |
Ok try copy and pasting this link http://www.screwcutter.pwp.blueyonde.../my888_155.JPG into the section that says avatar URL , That I think will sort it as I have uploaded your Avatar to my personal webspace . hosting sites tend to block images that get to many hits , I think they also block out sites that request the image to much but thats only a hunch but is likely . OK Paul, How about that then. Thanks for all the effort, note my mood and if you were here it would be my shout. What is your ride? :lol::lol::sing: |
Knew we would get there in the end :) I ride an 89 851 monoposto with an 888 motor , Its what I like to call "a work in progress" :D |
