Help again (even worse...) I can't fit my pads back on the bike... I've fitted the caliper to the fork, but then the disc is almost in contact with one side of the caliper, which makes that I can't put the pads in the caliper... What's wrong with that? As you will see I've got forks legs on the bike but they are Alan's and according to him I shouldn't race with them... ![]() |
GOT IT :D Don't bother with that, I think the problem comes from the fork, the stuff holding the thing is not shifted enough, so my disc isn't centered. Problem is I can't do anything to that, one of the bolt on the fork bottom is dead... So I can't move the thing in the stuff. ok I'm off to the garage, maybe I'll have more luck with the rear brake :) (Anyway Mark won't need front brakes on the Dyno will he?) Sorry Antoine, far too technical for me mate :o |
Wheel spacers? Done it myself recently when I was tired and working late. Easily done. |

Believe it or not I know what you mean! I had a stuck thingy in the bottom of the wotsit on one of my bits. Try a good soaking of WD40 and then try using a hammer and chisel to shift the hex-headed clamp bolt. (hit the flat end of the chisel with the heavy bit of the hammer) If that doesn't work try heating the bottom of the fork leg with a blowtorch (if you can't get the bike in the oven) and as its alloy it should free up the bolt and voila ( like a cello but smaller) Bon chance, mon ami |
Tonio - glad you fixed the pads Those forks were only for you to use while the others were away, I would be terrified if you used them for road or race in that condition they are in tho. I only kept them for spare parts and they would need to be completely overhauled to be usable at all. Alan |
If in doubt - hit it - hmmmm. Hey Tonio have you removed the socket in the wheel spindle yet ? - Finally got ours out last week thanks to gas cooker and loads of WD :o |

:lol::lol::lol::lol: First thing I did - I like to see a Frenchman struggle :D |
Cheers Paul, but I'm not trying anything on Alan's fork, I really must find another pair if I want to race at Cadwell. Well, I've already been ridiculous trying to fit my front brake: I was beaten by a pair of forks. Nevermind, I'm not sure the front brake is needed to have a bike Dyno'd (that's not an MOT...), let's try to fit the rear one :) Let's say I've been even more ridiculous: after having poured 3/4 of the DOT can through the reservoir, there is still no way it will stop my rear wheel :lol::lol::lol::lol: I was sure to be following the good procedure: fill in the reservoir, pump, pump, pump and hold it, undo the drain bolt, look at the pipe, do the bolt back. Check liquid level in the reservoir, pump, pump, pump again, etc... I give up. I will race without brakes. |

Boy am I glad I'm not in your race!!! :lol: |
same problem I had last year at Cadwell which caused me to crash in one race and pull out of the other two. Fixed by recessing the fork bush futher by taking a stepped cutter to the fork leg, I also made up a slightky narrower speedo replacement spacer just in case but didn't use it. Same here when fiting the twin disc setup. |

Hope you're OK, didn't end up on your Assen, and that the forks didn't get away with it. |

I'm sure those forks are trapped... It's a try to put me aside of the races... Well done Knight RR team, that's tricky :lol: |
:o I think you should put the spanners down and step away from the motorcycle! ;) |

Yep! Sounds about normal for 583's :cool: |
