The World\'s Fastest Indian An excellent bike film for anyone who has not yet seen it - The world's fastest Indian. Saw it last night and what a truly amazing story, Anthony Hopkins was brilliant in the role of Burt Munro, the Kiwi who raced an old Indian at Bonneville Salt Flats in the 60's. |
Thanks for the reminder - I'd like to go and see that :) |
Another vote for a brilliant film about a bike and what it took to ride it. Anothony Hopkins was so good in the role that when Burt Monroe's kids turned up on set they burst into tears 'cos the portrayal was so accurate. |
I heard his kiwi accent was a bit rubbish. Fush and chups anyone? |
I would like to see that as well, don't think Mrs Jools would be too keen though. Which begs another question. How many 'chick flicks' and weepies does a man have to sit through before he gets a chance to see a film that interests him? Is there a scientific ratio? I'm begining to think that it's close to infinity. Discuss |
mrs jools might like it after all........ it has a bike theme, but is more about "living a dream" i guess, and has some really funny bits and some weepy bits too.Anthony Hopkins does a fair kiwi impersonation i think he played it really well - after all he is welsh so there are certain parallels.......sheep/rugby ummmm what else oh yeah feesh and cheeeps. |

 Now do you have malt vinegar on the chips or tomato sauce ... I think the key lies there :D And Jools, there is no ratio mate. She is just making it up as she goes along .. they all do. You need drastic steps to take back control of your movie going. |

Its why they invented personal DVD players!!! ;) [Edited on 16-3-2006 by Rattler] |
Deffo want to see this. Saw a 'making of' type programme on digital sunday and looked excellent. |
Looks even better from the trailer (apart from the accent): http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home...ndianx07x02x06 |
Saw it 4 weeks ago and it is brilliant, save as TP says for the slightly dodgy accent. I rarely watch films twice but this will be one I buy on DVD and watch again. More a feel good story that also includes bikes than an out an out bike film :) |
i saw it at the weekend, and my wife liked it as well ,a good film. i dont think i would like to ride it a 200 mph,it looked a bit iffey to me. |

She'll love it mate |

Filmed in my home town. Burt was a nutter of the highest order, and not bad with a bloody spanner by all accounts |
I really want to see it, but its only showing in Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland  (well that i could find) |
I'd like to see it too...Joolz I beg to differ on the chick flick thing... No one ever takes me to the pictures...unless it's a harry potter, narnia, etc etc etc! Looks like I'll be waiting for it coming out on DVD (sigh!):sniff: |
Took the whole family to see this last night and the jury's result - HIT It is a 'feel-good' movie and a bit sentimental but Hopkins is good in the central role. His inspirational line, when asked why he wanted to got to Bonneville is - "You live more in five minutes on a bike… than some people live in their lifetime," There's a good review of it here - The Fastest Indian - Review True the Kiwi accent is dodgy but then most Kiwis are dodgy :D;) |
Did you know that the bike used for the 'action shots' was DUCATI powered????? http://www.indianmotorbikes.com/feat...unro/munro.htm http://www.indianmotorbikes.com/feat...tley/index.htm |

Superb film - saw it last week. A bit slow in places but then again he was old! |
I managed to persuade the whole family to go and see it with me at the weekend. The kids (12, 10, 6) were not too keen to go. However, everyone came out really enthusing about it afterwards so the film is a definate don't miss for all ages!! Keith |
Guess I'm slow off the blocks unlike Burt Munro, but just seen the flick on DVD. Both me and WeeMrsC thoroughly enjoyed it. Gonna lend it to me engineer Dad as I know he'll love it too. See it if you get chance. Top Film and top acting by Sir Ant'........ |
