Nice job Harv, looks mint, did you add the Ohlins forks and the 4 pad calipers?

Yes mate...the original showa forks where great, they had been treated to Ohlins internals, but these just somehow set it all of a treat:D I bought them of Chillo a couple of years ago, and had them on my 748, before switching them over. Same with the P4's.

Anything I've done to it I've tried to keep it in character...the forks are the biggest difference...most other things are small and just there because they make a difference to me as a rider, not just for the sake of it.

MARTIN H 16-Mar-2006 18:37

Looks like new! Very nice indeed.

Monty 16-Mar-2006 18:40

Admit it Harv-you posted those just to upset me............:(

She looks lovely mate, Cameron would be pleased to see that the current owner of his baby keeps her as clean as he did-I shall have to send him some of your pictures.

SP

Looks mint Harv well done!

skidlids 17-Mar-2006 04:40

Harv thats either a very small number plate or you need to fit one and no parking it next to my 996 at any of the meets my bike will get a complex, although I think my 998 Hybrid will be able to tolerate being parked to such a nice example of a 916SP

PS how strong is that chain ?

weeksy2 17-Mar-2006 08:57

Nice mate... nice indeed... yours is the bike mine aspires to be when it grows up :)

spinoli1 17-Mar-2006 09:17

Harv

You`ve done a really nice job there and the forks set it off a treat.

The philosophy (is that spolt rite!) you adopt is one that I have always kept to myself, modify something keeping it in the original concept of the bike.

Very nice indeed.

Henners 17-Mar-2006 09:53

Just beautiful Harv - like John I wish I'd bought her when I had the chance - enjoy!

Yup, that's the correct logic mate deffo.

Mine has the 65mm forks and may have the 4 pads calipers later today... but mostly it's as it came out of the crate.

Jools 17-Mar-2006 10:12

Fabulous job Harv. Theres an SP for sale on this board for £5,300 asking price, which is the only bike I've seen for a while that's made me think "Ooooo, if only that had been for sale when I bought my 888".

Like you, my philosophy is not to modify the bike in any way that is out of keeping with it's essential character - the bits that go on my bike will only be in good faith with the original. Now, where did I put those purple anodised nuts and iridium screen....

deej 21-Mar-2006 20:04

harv

im sorry mate but that needs to be ridden much more, its too damn clean :lol::lol:

twpd 21-Mar-2006 20:06

I'm sure I can see some dirt there......... ;)

Nice work - I have a soft spot for SP's.

TP 21-Mar-2006 20:19

Yeah it looks wicked - nice work Harv. Are those mag marchi's? If so, very tasty! I'd love to have those on my 998R. I can't wait to see it at the double track day at Cadwell :D

What's the general consensus on having a closed front sprocket cover? Mine is slotted and carbon as well, but I would have thought that you would want to have more air through there?

Anyone? .....

twpd 21-Mar-2006 20:23

Proper race bikes don't have 'em Tony. Just like my SV650 minitwin ;)

keefer 21-Mar-2006 20:25

I don't run one
just me and my toes :(
