NBs996 16-Mar-2006 22:12

I have that light in my espace... the book says:

Electronic incident warning light on petrol engine versions
This illuminates as soon as the ignition is switched on.
If it illuminates when you are driving, it indicates an electrical or electronic incident. Consult a Renault Dealer without delay.

kwikbitch 16-Mar-2006 23:09

You have an electrical problem mate...get it sorted. It should go on with the battery light when key is in ignition then go off when you start it up.
I'm not saying owt about renaults.
I love mine but my ABS has just gone tempermental so......:(:(:(:(

marko 16-Mar-2006 23:14

Only got yourself to blame:D buying french cars:lol::lol:

Jools 16-Mar-2006 23:18

It means it's going to self destruct as soon as you accept the mission secret squirrel

rockhopper 16-Mar-2006 23:28

Oooo, dodgy ABS equals MOT fail.

Yes...I KNOW!!!!!

bradders 16-Mar-2006 23:49

you in the AA? Call em out and get them to clear the light or tell you the problem...is it running on all cylinders? If not a coil problem is likely...a lot of these lights are also coz of are faulty sensors and not big bucks if you know what is wrong vbefore the garage!!

does it? check that out - just disconnect the lamp I would have thought?? ABS does not usually (I am told!) affect braking capability, just an addition to what is already there to stop skidding

kwikbitch 16-Mar-2006 23:55

tell me about my ABS.....???? Any ideas??? If I can fix it myslf without taking it to a dealer I'd be much happier....

Blinkin thing starts with ABS on, when you press the brakes it judders and squeels (like ABS is on in slowmo)
After a couple of attempts at braking the ABS warning light comes on and it's fine?????

I did check it out...ABS wont fail MOT unless the warning light comes on in the car, if it's disconected it should be ok. At the moment if it's put on a rolling road those brakes are dodgy until the light goes off, it almost feels like its locking one wheel:(

Glyn 17-Mar-2006 00:42

cheers for that folks
nice idea with the AA:eureka:

Renault megane, my girlfriend has one and I have spent far too much time messing with the electrics. There seems to be a design fault with them in that there is a main fuse box to the left of the battery (looking from the front of the car) what happens is the water runs off the screen into the fuse box. Lisas was in such a state that all the fuses were totally corroded and stuck in place and she was getting all sorts of weird electrical problems. I managed to clean it all up and the car worked ok for 6 months and it all started again so I bought a new fuse box which was about £50 from renault. All was ok for another 9 months and then the coil pack gave up. It may be worth checking that fuse box as it did cause all sorts of strange faults.

If the vehicle is fitted with an anti-lock braking system, check that
a warning lamp is fitted
b. the lamp illuminates
c. the lamp follows the correct sequence of operation
Note: The sequence varies with the type of system. Refer to the manufacturer’s or other reliable data, eg purpose produced charts, books etc d. indicates an ABS fault

(from the car mot manual)

rcgbob44 17-Mar-2006 10:00

Having owned two french cars I would NEVER ever buy frog again.

only money spent on it, tyres n exzaust
havn't even changed the oil!!!

compared to the vauxhall astra i had it's a dream.
the damn astra was a nightmare

GsxrAge 17-Mar-2006 23:23

We did have a 1.4 307 bought it when it was 13 months old with around 13,000 miles on the clock, It broke down twice in the first year both times it was to do with the electrics, funny thing was it was on the same road and within a mile of where it broke the first time.

It had a clonk that they never could find.

It would not rev cleanley past 4000 rpm

Eelectric windows would not shut correctly and it would take you 5 mins to get em to shut.

BLOODY FRENCH CRAP !!!!!

Thank god we've got shot of that thing :D

Gone to Honda Now  what a difference
