Rearsets Not many rearsets available 888 specific, but plenty on fleabay etc for Monsters and SS,s.Do any work on a 888?. |
Funny you should post this, I've been meaning to ask the same question. I think Nattyboy has got monster rearsets on his 888, so I think monster ones are an alternative. I've been meaning to ask what other sort of stuff is interchangeable as well - do the old shape SS cans fit for example? What wheels will fit (assuming the different axle diameters are catered for) etc... |
I think that what constitutes as a rearset for a Monster will be there or there abouts standard for a 888.Bolt holes should be the same as the early Monsters and you may get a bit of adjustment,....but that,I think is about that. |
At the risk of losing the original question, according to Bike magazine:-Air Filter 92-98 900SS,851/888 same as Porsche 924,Audi100,Audi200 Mk11 Polo, and old Jaguars.Oil pressure switch same as Vauxhall Agila.Starter solenoid same as old Mini.Monster headlight only available as complete unit but same as Bosch unit for BMW R100S,glass and reflector available seperately |

Position of the footpeg isnt bad,its the great big rubber pegs that are a pain, restrict movement of your foot and allow no feedback. |
I use the SP5 type which keep the original position but have the solid peg. A good comprimise for me. Later, Father Xmas might bring me a set of CycleCat 888 pegs. Rgds, Rob |

so what (if any) rearsets are available for the 851 - the early frame with the the 'lugs'. cheers Neil |
i tried a pair of monster rearsets on my 888 and they fit the boltholes but the peg was further forward than std and i tended to hit the fairing with my toes. the very first ducati performance catalogue for the 900SS had a set of rearsets which i discovered were available through ferracci and i fit them with no problems. there is a pic of mine here, http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm....php?tid=29748 |
What supplier are the AX23 from? ---> I don't know ... sorry !!! I ordered the kit through an independant French company two years ago. Last week, they told me thazt this kit is still available and cost about 430 Euros / 295 £ / 720 AUD Here is the brake side ... Phil911 |
Has this independent company got a website, or address? |
I don't think so ... Interested ????????????????? Phil911 |
Here is a global view of the bike, seen from left side ... The color and design are soft ... (My own point of view ...) |
You are dead right they have that strong and suttle look, blend in with the whole package and don't stick out like a tarts' handbag. Interested yes, but the wallet isn't. thought if there was a site it would be worth a look. Bye the way, that is great looking ride. |

Whats the seat covered in,looks like alcantara/suede,does it wear well. Whats the history of that bike,French race team? |
This one is ... perfect !!! :D |

Step 1 : I confirm, racing bikes had an undertray independant of the rear mudguard. Step 2 : Seat handmade by myself with alcantara ... because Falappa enjoyed, by the past !!! :) Step 3 : This bike has any history !!! 100% rebuilt by myself from 100% original Racing parts, even the frame !!! 2 years and half to investigate and collect the missing parts worldwide, plus an extra year and half, hidden in my garage, to build, rebuild, adjust and bla,bla ... except paint !!! I will never restart such an adventure !!! I'm independant and my adress book is too light to be able to open the "right doors" !!! Moreover, some persons want to earn a fortune with ... a basic screw !!! |
If you're looking for a fairly basic set that doesn't look "over-the-top", try racesuppliesdirect. They have an Ebay shop and do rearset to order. Usually about £100 complete, including pegs, levers, etc. And, spares are cheap and available. Doesn't qualify for bling, though. Many club racers use them. No affiliation with me. thanks felix, I'll give them a whirl for the early 851 rearsets. cheers Neil |
From a quick try in the garage in the dark '92-7 standard SS rearsets fit (Or at least the left side one does... Can't find my right one in the dark). They move the peg position both back and up around an inch. Obviously though you'd need a longer gear lever connecting bar. I'd imagine the right rearset would be the same although as the master cylinder is mounted on the rearset itself I'd think it'd just be a bolt on job. If anyone wants me to actually check I'll do it next weekend. Darren |
yes please do - that would be great. cheers Neil |
YEP I LIKE THOSE NON-BLING RACE SUPLIES ONES ! GONNA TRACK EM DOWN.(WONT BE GETTIN RID O ME CARBON BLING ONES THO......) CHEERS FELIX . |
Race Supplies dont have a pattern for the 888 unfortunately, but they can make a set from a drawing. |
You might want to try this guy. I have just seen some rear sets he made up. Not to bad. http://www.handmaderacers.com/index.html |

i have febur or ferracci 900SS rearsets on my 888 and they definitely are a straight bolt on exercise. |
