Insurance ripoff

Just got my renewal notice through from Devitt for my 999. They are quoting £569.89 for fully comp with protected NCD. That's significantly up on last year and the excess has also been increased to £500.

So I log onto the Devitt web site and ask for a quote. They quote £426.22 fully comp, protected NCD, ride other bikes and excess £450.

So where has the £143.67 difference gone?

Rant over.

:flame:

Biketeam (0870 897 7733) have managed to find same cover for £385.

mmmmmmmmmmm the saving is, if you do all the work, the computer says "YES" for a bloody change!

ducatisps 23-Mar-2006 18:31

What do you get on the new on-line quote system at insuremyducati?

It's not an instant quote, I have sent the details required so watch this space.

ducatisps 23-Mar-2006 19:33

Chrisw - I think you clicked the link below which is for under 25's on bikes which are not sports bikes - e-mail on its way to you.

rockhopper 23-Mar-2006 19:45

Budget have done exactly the same to me for the last two years. They always honour the lower quote though.

Doh

Cracking quote. £347. Is that protected NCD?

ducatisps 23-Mar-2006 21:40

Thats not just protected - thats guaranteed - no reduction in NCD regardless of the number of claims you have. All our quotes come with guaranteed bonus from one year NCD and upwards.

chrisw 23-Mar-2006 22:40

Fast enough for me.

:burn:

ducatisps 24-Mar-2006 10:21

dseered - sorry about that - can't find out what went on now. Certainly not the type of service we expect to provide. Now you can get a quote on-line too and we'll get back to you if the quote refers.

Redruth 24-Mar-2006 10:28

I get really annoyed with insurance companies/brokers who don't bother to give their best quote because they are relying on customer inertia.:mad:

What particularly gets me is, if you ring to say 'you're not competitive, they'll usually reduce their price! If they could do that, why didn't they do it in the first place? So I shop around every year. It takes a while and piles of patience but usually pays off. I have bikes and household renewals next week so double dose of patience required. :sniff::sniff:

By the by, just tried ebikeinsurance.co.uk, following a thread on another post - and boy! £200 cheaper - and I have never got a quote from Ducati - happy to take the money fo rthe bike, but 'don't want the risk' lovely:yawn:

JACKO748S 02-May-2006 11:10

It is a bit strange isn't it?

I've just received my renewal from Bennetts for the 748.....

Renewal is £316.

But, in the last paragraph they say they can also do it for £238:puzzled:

I log on to their site for an online quote and they will now do it for £215:puzzled::puzzled:

Shopped around and that looks like the best I can get. Happy with that.

Jacko.

Try Liverpool-Victoria for your house and contents.

Cut my cost by nearly 50% and covered a lot more in the price including old for new and holiday insurance, insured against loss in the garden and kit taken on holiday.

Type the name in to Google I'm sure it'll come up.

Just had my renewal quote from MCE for my ST3 and 748.Thought I'd try Bennetts and Ducati Insurance just to compare.

Bennetts were £4 cheaper at £324 but Ducatti came in at £300 including 3rd pty cover on riding any other bike. Bargain

neilkeogh 02-May-2006 14:20

just got mine this morning from Motorcycle Direct for my 999S renewal quote £452.53 plus excess £650.00.......Ducati Insurance £307.00 with an excess of £500.00:D

£145 quids better off straightaway, excees is not really a big deal until pay out time arrives

Good link there mate. Just tried again (crashed on me this morning) and it's come back 25 quid cheaper than the Bennetts one.

Also, it would be only 30 quid more to go from a 748s to a 996 sps........just need to find one of those now :D

Jacko.
