Labour! what are your Real thoughts? I was driving along today and listening to a debate on Radio2 (Yes I know i'm old) I could not believe what i was hearing !!!!!! Gordon Brown is an out and out Liar, Hands up how many of you are "Realy better off under this government?????????? Yes, yes, iIknow we should not DO politics, BUT:o |
I would say I am, but that could be due to my hard work rather than the government. Trouble is they are ALL bloody liars, it's anybody's guess who's the best/worst! |
Labour, I hate manual work, give me a white collar one any day:D Chris.:burn: |
I reckon each 4 years the 3 top Parties swap power and each one has a go. |
It's all the same whoever gets in power!! lying barstewards only on the look out for themselves 'Never trust a politician' |
Quote:
In what way was he lying? Realistically, we all know they have their hands in the pie. The furore over honours for cash is amusing - the evidence albeit empirical is overwhelming but, I find it very amusing how the Tories et al aren't kicking up too much of a fuss. I wonder why. What gets me is how multi-millionaires seem to get peerages whilst those who do real useful good altruistic work rarely get recognised i.e charity workers etc. Power corrupts as does money. It's the usual story of the monied and ruling classes. |
The only difference between the Tories and New Labour is that when the Tories got caught lying etc. Labour screamed ''SLEAZE'' and the offending Tory resigned immediately. With Labour they get to keep their job no matter what they've done. I just can not believe that the population of this country are so gullible as to vote in a party which has embroiled us in an unwinnable crusade against muslim countries and probably caused as many deaths amongst the people of those countries as the despotic former leaders did, not to mention the lives of over a thousand service men and women. I blame big brother |
Sorry Mav, I went off on one........Gordon Brown? Prudent? My pension along with hundreds of thousands of others will be worthless thanks in part to arch thief Gordon Brown. I'd rather have Ken Dodd as prime minister than him. At least we'd get a laugh and I think Ken would take better care of our cash than old sourpuss. Phil |
OK, who owns a Honda Insight or a Smart Diesel. The Honda has only sold 200 in the UK and is not manufactured anymore and the Smart isn't imported to the UK. Well if you do own one then you won't have any road tax to pay. Wow! That's £13,000 he's given back to us (200 x £65). When I say us, that's not me. He obviously likes sh@gging everyone cos rubber johnnies (condoms) have had their VAT cut to 5%. |
What bothers me is ! remember the guy who nearly stopped the county, when petrol went up to 78ppl? Where is he now? it's 89.9 now and not a peep out of him ! was he bought off by the government? Did the KGB get to him? I bet Bliar&co paid him a visit and gave him a "Big fat cheque" to shut up! WE all just keep paying and paying and paying! I dropped into the services on the M40 the other day, I asked for a coffee and was asked for £2.99 by a guy who could just about speak english! The guy in the loos was foreign the person in the fuel station was foreign and the copper sitting in the police car was foreign where are all the bloody english? Well i'll tel ya we are busy working our asses off to keep all the foreign people who have all the jobs and claim benefits be cause no one knows who they realy are!! when will this government pay us to leave this country as they pay them to enter it! I'de be first on the list! .....mav |

Just a thought lisa ! who are the bloody english anyway????????;) |
Its becoming very easy to know when a polician lies,,,,,,,,,,,, He just moves his mouth.:sing: |

The problem is that the English don't WANT to work these "low paid menial" jobs, and would rather sit at home on their arses claiming benefits. My mother works at the job centre and she sees it day in and day out. The foreign workers just want to work and don't care what job or how much, but the English are picky *******s that wouldn't break a sweat for less than 20 grand a year. The reason we have an influx of migrant workers is because we do have the jobs here and they're more than happy to work for minimum wage because it's a hell of a lot more than they would get "back home", and with better quality of life too. Britain has always had migrant workers going back many centuries, so it's not a new thing. Blair hasn't done anything to reverse the problem with the benefit culture - if anything the current government have made it worse. The whole PC thing is nonsense, and you really know they've gone loopy when the criminal has more rights than the victim. Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep? Or is that insulting to the gays now as well? FFS! Luckily we live in a tolerant society in Britain, and it's often the English way to put up and shut up. Unfortunately we live in a tolerant society in Britain, and it's often the English way to put up and shut up. Labour? I never voted for them and I never will. |

Excellent. I think they're all bad, but B'Liar is by far the worst we've had for an awfully long time (bring back Maggie) I come from the North East which has always been a real Labour stronghold, the saying was that you could put up an empty brown ale bottle as the Labour candidate and it would get voted in. Why do you think B'Liar's constituency is Sedgefield. For those of you that don't know apart from Sedgefield being in the North East, it also had the largest looney bin (mental hospital) in the area. It makes me sick that Labour banged the drum about Tory sleaze, at least apart from Johnathon Aitkin, it was at least back benchers, Labour are far worse, and a lot of it involves cabinet ministers. Lee Harvey Oswald, where are you when another country needs you:lol: RANT, RANT, RANT. Sorry Mav i've digressed form the original question, i'd agreee with Yeti's answer though. Much though i detest Labour, there is something to be said for political stabilty, as when a opposition party comes into to power there tends to be some turmoil with changes or even reversal of policies in the past, but New Labour is far closer to the Tory's than Old Labour. Nobody ever seems to confess to voting Labour, seems on par with being a child molester, but obvioulsy enough people did vote Labour. I'm off to calm down/think/talk/ride bikes. It would still be less painfull than watching Tony's smug mug and rapidly greying hair on the TV:lol: |
Well I'll put my hand up and say that I voted Labour, several times - basically because the Tories are a much bigger nightmare. Don't kid yourself that Labour sleaze is anything like the same scale as what the Tories got up to. I'm not condoning what the Labour party have recently been exposed for, with their 'loans for peerages' scandal. because it's murky and underhand, but it's not illegal, and unlike the Tory party they haven't had anybody go to jail for their corrupt ways - Aitken and that buffoon Archer are both convicted Tory criminals. To be fair, I wouldn't vote Labour again until Blair stands down - he's become a liability and labour are looking a mess. I voted Tory once, when Thatcher first came to power but what a disaster that woman was. Arrogance personified. Why will I NEVER vote Tory again? Because people must have short memories if they've already forgotten their ludicrous economic strategies that plunged the country into the longest recession we've ever had. When all the big businesses stopped paying their bills and a third (yes a third) of small businesses in my local chamber of commerce went to the wall - including a couple of suicides from people who had previously been running successful businesses for 30 years. Ahhh the Thatcher days...when unemployment was over 3 million, when mortgage rates were 15%, when hardworking families were plunged into negative equity, when home repossesions reached an all time high, when she doubled council tax bill overnight, when our police forces were sent on mounted baton charges against miners who were just worried about their futures. Happy days eh!!! I hope people will know that I'm a fairly level headed bloke who doesn't bear much malice - but I hated Thatcher then and I still hate her now...oh and look at what her own son gets up too, he's done a few dodgy deals in his time hasn't he? Narrowly avoided extradition a few times and been up in court more than once - not for parking fines either, but for trying to overthrow elected foreign governments. So, no...I won't vote Labour again but what are the alternatives. Cameron? Hah....don't make me laugh. The guy is just an actor, did you hear anything but showboating in his reply to the budget? Did you hear any Tory alternatives? No, just a bunch of smart arsed ranting. He tries to come across as all chummy, one of the people, at one with the concerns of the ordinary bloke in the street. But let's look at the reality. Born into a wealthy stockbroking family, educated at Eton and at Brasenose College, Oxford where he was a member of the exclusive student dining society 'the Bullingdon Club' whose members are known for their extreme wealth and for being at the top of the 'Rar' pile*. He married Samantha Sheffield in 1996, who described herself as a Yorkshire girl (which gives a nice homely sensible down-to earth touch) - neatly omitting, that 'home' near York is Sutton Park and that her dad is Sir Reginald Sheffield, 8th Baronet who owns half of Yorkshire and that her maternal great-grandfather was a chairman of Reuters and that both her mother and maternal grandmother married into the Astor family. Do you think they've got any idea at all what ordinary peoples concerns are? What do they have in common with any of us? *The only thing he's got in common with me is Brasenose College, Oxford which is where my son went to University (but from a comprehensive school - not Eton). My son can tell you about the 'Rars' as they're called in Oxford (because of their 'rar, rar, rar, rar' braying laughter). The 'Rars' all went to public schools like Eton, Harrow and Radley College and all think that they have an absolute right to rule the world, treating their fellow students with utter disdain |
I have a theory that governments shouldn't serve for more than 2 terms as per the US system - I voted Labour back in 1997 simply because I'd had enough of 4 terms of the Tories. 3 terms of Labour and we're back to the same situation - politicians who are too comfy with their feet under the table, politicians who've run out of ideas for things to do, so invent nonsense policies just for the sake of it. 3 terms is too long for anyone. Political Correctness is a funny thing - everyone in public life is so scared of saying anything controversial, that there are no opposing ends of the political scale anymore - far left and far right as epitomised by Thatcher and Foot in the 80's don't exist anymore because they're too controversial, both sides are seeking the safety of the middle ground and as a result, there's nothing to choose between them. Which is why I didn't vote last time - give me an option that says 'None of the above' and I'll vote Just my opinion Martin [Edited on 24-3-2006 by Urban996] |
Why don'e we have a whip round make a "loan" to the labour party then instead of having our cash back we could have a nominated club member given a peerage so he could go and represent our views. Ban quiet exhaust pipes, cheaper fuel, less uncontrolled immigration, free track days to all over 50's etc. etc. I'm itrigued as to how a supposedly non profit making organisation can "borrow" such massive sums of money. How the feck are they supposed to pay back those who don't want a peerage ? Maybe it will be lobbed up from the lottery funds, they seem really competent at dipping into that when the need arises. Remember the big tent fiasco !!! |
New Labour Jools, you should stand for Parliament as a New Labour MP. Your rant against the Tories is not couched in your usual fair minded style. Aitken and Archer both lied and probably because they were Tories quite rightly went to prison. The liars in New Labour have got away with more lies than any administration in living memory. The legal system is controlled by Blair and his Scottish school pal the Lord Chancellor Of England who took over the job from his other mate Lord Irvine. |

Actually Jools it may well be illegal ,hence the police investgation! We may yet see someone (Lord Levy - bless him?) facing his "peers". [Edited on 24-3-2006 by logyk] |
I REPEAT IT'S ONLY A BIKE CLUB As was posted by Dementor on a.n.other thread. (last time I saw those words the MT froze the thread without a by-your-leave reason or rhyme) And as yer good man jools posted recently - keep it in perspective. How many peeps in DSC? 1000, 2000, 3000, ??? Do you think it will make one iota of difference what anyone on here wants/desires? - not unless you are prepared to go out and do something about it. So I propose we elect a cabinet minister as Honorary Pres (bang goes another thread), who would you want-Aitken?Archer? or Campbell? Then again we could always do a Frenchie, and have a mass sit in at the little church hall near Newport Pagnall. That'll show 'em. |

She will need to be a full club member if she wants to be on the rules/constitution committee though :P:P:P:lol::o Worse thing she did was to privatise the utilities IMHO. The useless bunch we have now do sod all to encourage new enterprise, it's great for illegal immigrants and asylum seekers and Russian mafioso types here now but not much on offer to the indigenous population. Ask yourself where your state pension is coming from if you've got another 10 years ahead of you before retirement or how many more times they will be putting their hands in the private pension funds. I'm into property for my investment but it will only be a matter of time before they cotton on to that and make it pointless. We can't go on forever without producing something saleable, our manufacturing industries have been decimated and will never be reclaimed. Our top people get lured off to other countries by lucrative offers, the innovators get no help or funding here so do likewise. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee, not for our own sakes perhaps but to offer something to our kids and the future. A natiional party slightly to the left of the National Front or BNP perhaps ?. Why should we be shy of saying we are English !! |
not sure on the new car tax. was looking at buying a 4x4,maybe a 2.0 td.over £200 a year in tax. my sprinter has a 2.2td. which at the mo is under £200 a year so where are these figures showing mpg/co2 etc. |
on dvla website. There should be (was) a link to specific engine emissions. Very unfair if you ask me:- Rover k series 1.8 engine - in a Rover was taxed at same rate as Rover 1.8 K series engine in a lotus, even though the lotus did maybe 1.5 times as many miles to the gallon [Edited on 24-3-2006 by guest1] |

I read recentlty that something like two thirds of the voting population receive a handout from the govt, one way or another. I didnt vote for labour and dont ever envisage doing so but here in salisbury it would be a waste anyway. Jools has a short memory and his dates confused, without doubt it was the torys who turned this country round, however, it doesnt do to be in charge for too long, which labour now have. Unfortunately the Soppy Date Party are completely unelectable so its lucky that the labour party have moved signifiantlty towards the right. |
Urban 996, You are right,no more that 2 terms as absolute power ..............i think we all know the rest. But in this club, who's going to vote for the reds and whos going to vote for the yellows???????????? |
Yellow for me! |

Since as far back as I can remember, I've done a self assessment every morning before I get out of bed.:eureka: When 'Our Maggie' was in power I had a new 16v Golf and had loads a money to pay into a pension. Now I've got a five year old astra van, no money and no pension. Of course I'm better off under new labour. Shame on me for thinking otherwise. But then it's my own fault isn't it, for working hard to make a living and having a wife, three kids and a mortgage. |
