parking ticket advice pls Today I got a ticket in Headington Oxford, the thing is I wasn't in the road so I can't have been parked in a restricted zone in the street, can I? Anyone tried arguing the toss over this and got anywhere? Thanks Catherine (I know from now on I'll get some velcro) |

Pay it, saves a lot of heartache in the long term, you can very rarely win and will pay more in Vodka and tonics to fight it...lolol :barfy::barfy::barfy: |

:saint:Something like 1/3 of disputed tickets are torn up by local councils, worth a go:saint: |

Thanks guys, anyone know if they apply to bikes anyway? Catherine |

Were you on the pavement? |

Put your car back where it was and take a photo! |

I got one a couple of weeks ago and came out as the guys where leaving. I was working at a place I have worked many times before and had a notice in the window. I was about 10 minutes. They couldnt give a toss and said they are told to ignore the notice. I've paid the fine and enclosed a copy of the notice so hoping for a let-off which I have had before. What do us working guys do if we need tools / equipment all the time ???? They also taken photos of the car in situ and one of my notice. Andy |

But it's a bike! Yes it was on the pavement by the bike rack! (and another motorbike)... |

I got a ticket about three months back witht the wrong street printed on it. I was definitely in the wrong (in a permit holders only bay) but emailed them (according to the dispute procedure on the back) to say this - fully expecting to have to pay up once they put it through the system. About a month later they wrote back to me saying they had cancelled the ticket. It sounds like it is worth disputing. |

Its probably illegal to park on the pavement. I got a ticket for that years ago. |

IIRC if on the pavement and both wheels are off the ground you can't get a ticket, somewhere was selling a stand for just this purpose. |

In Bristol if you are on the pavement, be it a car or a bike they say as long as someone can walk passed then its legal. I have had this told to me by the Council and Police when I have complained about parking in my neighbourhood as it has become beyond a joke. It seems people are able to park everywhere except the road down here and be untouchable. Weird:eureka: |

Well I've emailed them but not had a reply yet... |
