why do you race dd

im racing with you lot this year because i read the aritical in the MCN has anyone else got into it through this way.

Tonio600 02-Apr-2006 11:10

I came to DD because it's seemed to be the cheapest way to race a Ducati... and my life is all about my familiy, my friends, and Ducati :D

But then I'll stay as long as I can afford it mainly because of the people...

Murray Mint 02-Apr-2006 12:41

I love the sound and feel of Ducati and also the people that are the DSC and Desmodue.

Grib 02-Apr-2006 16:39

It was a cheap racing option that meant we could both race this year instead of just Couch going out :) We've never owned Ducati's before and didn't know many people in the club, but since we've joined we've met some great people and I think it's that which will keep folks coming back to race again. Turns out Ducati's are OK too...well, when mine works anyhow ;)

kye 02-Apr-2006 17:37

I originally joined the club when I was thinking about getting a 600SS road bike, then ended up deciding to do DD after going to half the rounds last year and figuring I'd end up going to them all this year so might as well join in.

couchcommando 02-Apr-2006 17:41

Joined to save some money but still wanted good close racing just a lot cheaper than 'normal' club racing. Also the rules are pretty strict so we are all on 99% identical bikes.
It's worked out quite well :)

phoenix n max 02-Apr-2006 20:12

Gave me a chance to get out on track with my bike giving racing a go. Wouldn't do it with any other bike :)

Rattler 02-Apr-2006 21:07

coz I've got sod all else to do on wet weekends in March!!!! ;)

skidlids 02-Apr-2006 21:34

After a miserable race season in 2004 where I managed 3 race meetings (One consisting of 3 race laps) along with the ZXR400 I planned to race in 2005 getting written off on the final lap of the 2004 lightweight, I was left with two choices pack up racing or do DD.
Thankfully I choose DD and last year more than made up for 2004

Scooter916 02-Apr-2006 21:51

Because of this, And the bike came away better than I did.:o

domski 02-Apr-2006 21:59

Should jet wash off I reckon ;)

phoenix n max 02-Apr-2006 22:03

Ouch tho :o

domski 02-Apr-2006 22:06

Yup that was last march out for a ride with kirsty.....
I suppose I could say I was lucky as I was unconcious before i hit the ground...I think. Proved the highway code wrong, My stopping distance was 10 meters at 80mph,
:frog:
Funnily enough ended up at louth..... They wanted to fly me to lincoln, but I decided to go home and have a beer with some friends..LOL again i think.
Glyn
And the moral of that story, All the people out there that want their stands to stay down DONT. You only have to rely on it poping up once when it dont and its curtains.:o

Desmodueracer 02-Apr-2006 22:51

I race DD because it is superbly organized, democratically run, has simple clear cut rules, is based on sound technical principles, and is full of like-minded people all having fun.

Kind of mate, A kick backwards to help it on its way followed by a crap wheelie past the wife, She noticed the stand was down and in her panick warned me by........Indicating left.:o I was already trapping on tho so wouldnt have heard her horn.
The rest is history so they say

Maxypriest 03-Apr-2006 23:34

eek. That is a nightmare scenario.

As for racing in DD, would you believe it - I've had my 600SS since nearly new, and was thinking that it would be great to race it.

I did a search on the wed and found the Horribledemon site. So I joined up and here I am.:sing:

psychlist 04-Apr-2006 13:27

Why DD?

...........because it's a cheap way to experience first hand the thrills (yes, and spills!) of racing after many years lay off from hard-core trackdaying.

Plus it gives me the opportunity to prove to you all that you're NEVER too old, fat or crippled to get out there and JUST DO IT ;)
