In the style of the Little Britain bloke in the wheelchair;
"Dont like it."

if they want to create another icon like the 916, then it needs to be a completely new design, not a merge of a 916 and a 999. The 999 was the right idea (not necessarily the right design, but at least a new design), it just has not caught on as much the original 916.

It would be interesting to go back in time and launch the same 999 design again, but with a 1200cc and 170bhp and see if it did better. I think that the competition from the new IL4's is a lot stronger than it was when the 916 was released

I think that there going in the right direction but not sure about lower fairing and twin pipes.

Mind you,i shouldn't be talking about exhaust pipes should i ?

I had a 748SPS and now a 999s - I loved the 748 design and was not sure about the 999 - I didnt really have a choice as the 748 blew itself up and I like new stuff!!

Having lived with the 999 for 12 months and 6,000 miles - its truely awesome and the design is well thought out - its much easier to work on.

However - I would have liked to see "evolution" rather than "revolution" - the 999 will probably never be an icon - but what other bike would be (apart from a 748/9**) in this day and age.

I love my 999 and thats all that really matters.

I bet thats a photoshop job. I cant belive that company with the design heritage that Ducati has would be reduced to making that bike. Backwards step in my view.

yeah you 749 boys have to go through the big engine phase first before a 1200cc!:lol:

Please don`t make that hideous motorcycle Mr Minoli:barfy::barfy:

i think it's a major step backwards. i thought they'd jump on the 'mass centralisation' bandwagon for the next machine and get rid of the underseat exhaust. Mr Buell may have a point.

ROACHMAN 07-Apr-2006 18:50

When I saw it I thought it was an April fools

It looks to me like the ******* Offspring of a 999 and a 996.

Or someone has raided the parts bin and bolted on a few leftover 996 bits:mad:

If they are going to re design it - please do it properly

I like it, certainly appeals to me more than the 999 does, but I would need it to be in Yellow.

If thats the next 999 then i'll eat my hat..

Another photoshop special I reckon. All I would say is that if they were planning to make that then its a copout.

Dont mess about compromising..if they want a new design get back to the drawing board.

the 999 is the first road bike with an aerodynamic front end. It comes to a point and thats what makes it for me, the 1200 is of the old light design and aint got a point, so 1200 yes but with 999s looks.
the world will catch up it's just a matter of time.
