DSC Factory Trip 2006 - HOW TO BOOK!

I've just posted in the DSC Topics section with the details for this year's factory trip.

Make sure that you're logged into the board so you can see this section.

The DSC Factory Trip is on for 2006!

We depart London Stansted on Ryanair flight 194 at 07:15 on Wednesday 26th April, heading to Bologna (Forli), arriving at 10:20 local time.

A coach will collect us from the airport and take us to the Ducati Factory just outside Bologna where we will have time to look around the factory shop and grab a bargain before lunch.

Lunch will be taken in the Factory Canteen. This is a buffet style lunch where you can select from hot or cold dishes, all made on site.

Once lunch is finished it's next door to the staff cafe, where you can take in an espresso or cappucino before splitting into two groups and being escorted on the famous tour of the Ducati factory. The knowledgeable guides will show you the complete process of building a Ducati, from engine cases to finished bike, answering all your questions along the way.

Once out of the factory it's upstairs to the Museum where you will see the history of Ducati, right up to the present day. See some of Ducati's most famous bikes and the amazing trophy cabinet!

After the tour it's back to the shop (time permitting!) and then back on to the coach to find a restaurant to feed us all before heading back to the airport.

The return flight, number 199, from Forli is at 22:30 local time, arriving back at Stansted at 23:40.

The Cost

The cost to you will be £20 to cover your coach fare and lunch in the factory. You will then have to book and pay for your own flight. Ryanair currently have this flight at 79p each way, totaling around £28 once "charges" and "taxes" have been added.

So for under £50 you get an awesome day out with the DSC!

The Catch

Places are STRICTLY limited to 40 DSC members ONLY. That means that you must be a DSC member (not just a message board member) to come on the trip.

To join the DSC, simply follow the instructions on the Membership page, here:
http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/index.php3?M=34

Membership is £25 for your first year, £20 thereafter. As anyone will tell you, the first time you use your DSC discount will be enough to pay your membership fee, sometimes many times over!

Fancy coming along? Send me a u2u for more details!

antonye 18-Apr-2006 10:31

We still have places left for this if you want to quickly join and get booked up!

900MAN 18-Apr-2006 11:18

A few of us have already booked this day as well.
Guess we will see you there.
I WASlooking at getting to the factory around 2pm, hit the shop, then take the afternoon tour.
Any chance of joining in the lunch, would be cooler than using an outside eatery

Have you booked on the tour as well, because it's not just a "turn up" kind of thing - you need to book in advance!

900MAN 18-Apr-2006 14:46

yes, I have booked the afternoon tour

antonye 18-Apr-2006 16:07

Ah cool. Our tour is after the lunch so it will be about 2pm I think.

900MAN 18-Apr-2006 16:32

My tour itself starts at 4pm

Iconic944ss 18-Apr-2006 17:05

Time for my best Victor Meldrew .....

I DONT BEELIEVE IT !!!

Ryanairs prices have just gone throught the roof:

£199.99 out
£169.99 return

Total inc etc etc etc = £396.89 :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

900MAN 18-Apr-2006 17:16

Just about to post the same.
Ouch

Iconic944ss 19-Apr-2006 14:30

Does anyone have any experience of Ryanairs prices ie - is there ANY chance of them falling at all before the 26th?

(Within their own 14 day guidelines - it appears not :( )

Frank

Ozz 19-Apr-2006 14:53

Frank

I see their 'sale' ends midnight thursday so would guess new deals would start friday.....?

Iconic944ss 19-Apr-2006 16:12

Cheers Ozz, thanks for keeping a lookout for me :)

Paul996 21-Apr-2006 13:51

Anyone going past Stevenage to the airport, could share the parking and petrol costs :eureka:

antonye 21-Apr-2006 13:54

Still £199 each way, but I'm now about to book the coach with a couple of seats spare "just in case"...

Ozz 21-Apr-2006 13:56

Sorry not unless I take a serious wrong turn!

Frank, sorry looks like you are buggered!!:(

Iconic944ss 21-Apr-2006 14:18

Cheers guys - Yep Ozz, looks that way dont it.

I've even found a two night stay on lastminute.com for £350 as it seems such a shame to go all that way and not see anything else of Bologna. But, thats way too much given the work I need to do to get my bike on the road, thats gotta come first.

Enjoy and take LOTS of piccies for the home page will ya!

Cheers - Frank

misterpink 21-Apr-2006 14:26

try BA direct to bologna out on 26th back on 27th for £234 approx incl taxes
factory is quite close to the airport

Ozz 23-Apr-2006 09:52

Anyone used the online check in? I have tried but says cannot as either:

9 in party
More than 72 hours
Special requirements.

None of which apply

KeefyB 23-Apr-2006 19:09

Oh boy,....really looking forward to this one!:D:D:D

Ozz 24-Apr-2006 10:39

Me too!

Online check in now working. Obviously they use Euro hours with 72 hours being 48 UK hours before departure....

antonye 24-Apr-2006 11:19

Whats the advantages of checking in online?

Ozz 24-Apr-2006 11:29

You get 15 minutes extra in bed and you print your boarding passes....

antonye 24-Apr-2006 11:30

Ah cool ... might give that a go then!

Paul996 24-Apr-2006 12:51

Really looking forward to this, how many are going and are we going to meet at a point in Stansted, roses in top pocket for reference lol, lol, lol

Gaz 748 24-Apr-2006 17:54

Checked in on line. :D

lancisto 24-Apr-2006 18:28

Is the normal check-in of 2 hours before flight reduced if you do it online, and if so what are the times

Cheers

hooley 24-Apr-2006 19:21

Ryanair operate a 45-minute before flight policy...... don't rely on this though - 1hour 10 mins is the 'safe' time

Have checked in 45 mins and 3 seconds before - almost a coronary from parking to check-in desk though.......

Last week Stansted was having refurbishments to the short-term parking, and as such was half capacity and a fair walk (5 mins to check-in). BE WARNED.

See you all there on Weds.......i'l be the one asleep.

Jas

lancisto 24-Apr-2006 20:14

Thanks for the info, I think to be safe I'll give it close to the 2 hours

See you all there.

I'll be the one with Ducati on the Tshirt

Ozz 24-Apr-2006 20:18

I may also be wearing a red Ducati tee. You won't be able to miss me in a crowd....

clint 999R 24-Apr-2006 21:48

also checked in on line and printed off boarding passes er in doors says im like a kid waiting for christmas :sing::burn::bouncy:

Ozz 24-Apr-2006 22:07

Weather only 21 degrees and sunny for wednesday which is a shame...

antonye 24-Apr-2006 22:11

I'll be wearing my Ducati Desmosedici jacket like the sad b'stard I am, probably carrying a clip-board with everyone's details on, so come and say hello.

Best bet is to get in, get checked in and make your way to the gate for the flight and meet there rather than fannying around. That way we're all in the right place and any late comers haven't got to worry about going anywhere except the departure gate.

Paul996 25-Apr-2006 07:26

Got a prebooked carpark, so if anyone going past Stevenage and wants a lift let me know.

See you all there, really looking forward to this :sing::sing:

antonye 25-Apr-2006 09:17

Just been in contact with Bobbie at Ducati UK to finalise all the arrangements, and we've got three people from MOC coming along as well, so it looks like we're in for a right ol' party!

See you in the morning.... :D

Rushjob 25-Apr-2006 17:44

I'll be the one doing a good impression of a very sleepy person as I've got to get up at 3am :o:o:o

Tell Gus not to be asking too many sensitive questions about price. ;) That boy's going to go along way if his guesstimate of 2nd hand bike prices is anything to go by. And buy him a flippin' burger. He might be a bright spark, but he is still just a kid.
:lol::lol:

Have fun and make sure you root out the DSC lot. They'll be the ones drooling over the partly built motors in the factory :yawn::yawn:

AL900SL 25-Apr-2006 20:40
