An early retirement

Arse.

No bone growth at all on my collarbone means no racing. Just had an x-ray today and the plates bent, pins pulling out, hurting like crap.....

I'm going to need to go under the knife again before it'll start to heal, then there'll be another 4-6 months recovery, so my season ends here.

I'm totally gutted, but it means that somebody else might have the chance to use the bike for a round or two. (Just picked it up from PDQ yesterday, making a healthy 63bhp).

Will of course be at as many rounds as I can get to.

Cheers,

Ali

Redruth 20-Apr-2006 18:22

Oh Christ, Ali. Worse than even you suspected, then. Gutted for you. :(:(

Dementor 20-Apr-2006 18:22

Gutted for you M8:(

Fordie 20-Apr-2006 18:22

Ali ,sorry to hear such dissapointing news. Some of your competitors may be smiling, but I think they would really be happier to see you mixing it on the grid. Im sure your presence in the paddock and grandstand will be just as well appreciated by all. Regards 4D

TP 20-Apr-2006 18:22

Mate, I am completely gutted for you. You were looking very good on that bike too - it's a real shame.

The world is a vampire.

Good idea! I'll start with such classics as: "Don't fall off" "Fall gently" & "Stay on the black stuff". I'm sure that'll help!

Thanks for the kind words all. :D

Ali

phil_h 20-Apr-2006 19:11

It just isnt possible to say how crap that kind of news is.
I'm starting to feel so very lucky that my 4 lots of shoulder surgery and 2 lots of back surgery seem to have left me with so few problems. (Well for an old git anyway)
I cannot describe how scared I was that something would go wrong.
I just wish there was something I could do, but the best I can offer is a ride on my classic racers when your collarbone is healed.
And it *will* heal, its just that you are going to need some intensive treatment to make it happen, and they always have to try the slow approach before the intensive approach.

Dougducati 20-Apr-2006 19:17

Mend soon chap

phoenix n max 20-Apr-2006 19:22

Jon 20-Apr-2006 19:30

Ali you disapoint me:( A real race would say sod it!!! I don't need it, it doesn't do anything except to stop my shoulder from wrapping itself around my neck. I get them to whip it out for good, end of problem:P

I thought you luck was on the up until now.

Speedy recovery M8

FFS, get on the first plane out to Ireland and start kissing the Blarney Stone as you can do with a change of luck!

GWS fella.

NBs996 20-Apr-2006 21:58

Bummer, what a tough break Ali :(
You were my target this season too... looks like I'll have to find someone else to aim for.

Wouldn't recommend kissing the Blarney stone tho - I've seen what the locals do to it :o

psychlist 20-Apr-2006 22:16
