Assen Update

All,

You should have received your email through from Chris Bushell regarding the final details about Assen.

I'm posting this as it wasn't very clear (to me!) and I've spoken to Chris on the phone.

Class
We are the "Sporting Club" class:
Practice: Saturday 12.30 (H) x 20 mins
Qualifying: Saturday 16.30 (R) x 20 mins
Race: Sunday 13.25 (G) x 8 laps

Numbers
We race with our own numbers and board colours, so no changes are required.

I hope this explains what I thought was a bit ambiguous! Chris will hopefully be following up with another email to clarify, but I though you might like to know in case you were wondering too!

domski 24-Apr-2006 16:04

Thanks Antony.

I also thought it was a bit confusing about access to the circuit, as it does say about access from 7am on Friday at the top, but further down it does mention something about access between 2pm - 11pm on Thursday.

Phew!!

antonye 24-Apr-2006 16:12

I expect a lot gets lost in the translation, but it's fair to say that Chris is pulling several cats out of the bag at once to get this all running!

TP 24-Apr-2006 16:20

Sorry to be a little impatient, I don't have access to that e-mail account from work. Does it mention anything about timing?

Edited to add: I mean race timing, transponders etc.

antonye 24-Apr-2006 16:27

It says:

Friday May 5th
Trackday
Time
07.00 Welcome Centre open open
19.00 Scrutinizing for Supermono, Sound of Thunder, including sound check
19.00 Distribution transponders at the Techno centre
21.00 End of scutinizing and transponder distribution

Don't know if that would include us?

CK 24-Apr-2006 17:21

cheers for that Antony:)

We seem to get all the other DD emails from Paul James, just nothing about Assen:( - and neither of our lads get on line regularly enough to check their mails.

Tonio600 24-Apr-2006 19:37

They say the paddock is closed at 11pm and there is no way we'll reach the circuit before 1am. Do you think we'll be able of setting up the tent near the circuit? :puzzled:

multi600 24-Apr-2006 21:42

Are the transponders we use in the uk ok to use at Assen?

Mike

domski 24-Apr-2006 21:47

Yes

(I think)

Tonio you won't have any problems putting your tent up outside the circuit theres plenty of grassy areas all around.:frog:

Tonio600 24-Apr-2006 23:53

cheers Chass, I'm reassured :)

Dunc 25-Apr-2006 09:54

Um, Mr Atack told me last night that the Friday track day was cancelled, although I've seen no 'official' word of this. has anybody else heard this?

cheers

domski 25-Apr-2006 10:59

That depends how fast you're thinking of going :P

Dunc 25-Apr-2006 11:47

Well according to my results so far( 16th, 17th, 15th, 15th), not very fast - I'll need all the practice I can get!

domski 25-Apr-2006 12:20

I haven't been told that it was cancelled.

Have you emailed desmodue@ducatisportingclub.com?

Dunc 25-Apr-2006 12:37

No not yet. Will do this evening.

:puzzled: hmmm hope not - booked in for that and the bikes have gone early for it too :o

multi600 25-Apr-2006 13:37

We were sent an e-mail by CB saying it had been reduced to two 20min practice sessions at 70 euros on Friday. Thats what we get because there was no room for us on the track day. On the list of what's happening at Assen we got no details about Friday:puzzled: but it does show two 20min sessions on Saturday. I sent Chris an e-mail this morning for clarification.

Mike

domski 25-Apr-2006 14:01

Ah, I can see some confusion here.

ALL OF US are only getting 2 x 20 min sessions.

That IS the trackday :o

Phew!! You had me worried Atackmeister ;)

Dunc 25-Apr-2006 15:11

Yes its a bit confusing isn't it. Mike said to me last night that we didn't need to roll up in time for Friday because the sessions were on Saturday. That's fine but nobody else seems to have got that message. Mike thanks for emailing CB. Hopefully we'll know by the end of the day.

domski 25-Apr-2006 15:57

The friday afternoon 'trackday' sessions are still on Dunc.

Originally the idea was for any DSC members (no racers) to participate on a trackday, but that couldn't be organised in the end. However, us racers are now allowed to use 2 sessions on the Friday.

It's very simple.

The friday afternoon trackday sessions are still on - on friday afternoon.

2 x 20 min sessions.

;)

multi600 25-Apr-2006 16:09

Trackday practice

The second line of the final instructions Chris sent out are:- (not applicable for the trackday on Friday)
So what are the arrangements for Friday I am concerned that it may not be straight forward as we have already been told about the other odd arrangements ie Race straight from the grid warm up lap from the pit lane. It is after all only 2 20min sessions it would be a shame to loose any time at all.
No news from CB as yet.

Mike

That's because the final instructions are 'race' instructions and Friday is a trackday, therefore the race instrcutions do not apply to the trackday.

Hope that clears it up.

AK still hasnt had ANY emails about Assen, nor response to his enquiries for them.
As he is driving the bikes there as well as just being a few other things too, he would find info most helpful

You need to pick better friends then :P

multi600 25-Apr-2006 16:35

So we don't get any more info:puzzled: most UK track days tell you what you have to take ie drivers licence what the requirements are regarding clothing and WHAT TIME IT IS HAPPENING. Chris said they were the final instructions for Assen not 'final Race instructions'

I have emailed the MT to answer just such questions ( in the event i make it and the interest of those that are going )

1 : On the track day do we have to attend a " briefing " session if so when and where is this.

2 : Noise testing for the track day, when is this and when. Our sessions are not till after 3.00pm

3 : Are we to be issued entry tickets and vehicle passes for race day.

4 : Are we to be issued passes or entry tickets for the track day.

5 : Is there a location set aside for the DD contingent.
