Why would somebody buy this ??? |
£480!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o:o:o:o:o:o It's got to be a joke right? |
So they can go out and pinch another 748 then swap the frame numbers over and hey presto, a "clean" 748 complete with log book. Used frames with log books sell for more money that a brand new one from the manufacturer. |
nevermind, why would someone buy it.The question should be "Why would someone do that!!" |
this is what the ad said : "HERE WE HAVE A 1997 R REGISRATION DUCATI 748 FRAME WITH V5 REGISTRATION DOCUMENT SOMEONE BUTCHERED THE FRAME AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE FRAME NUMBER INTACT THE REGISTRATION NUMBER IS HPI CLEAR NOT WRITE OFF ETC. THE FRAME NUMBER IS ZDM7485004835" [Edited on 25-4-2006 by Sharpy G] |
maybe this post could be a warning to potential buyers of this possibly soon to be re-born ?! bike ? |
There is simply no other reason why someone would pay so much for a scrap frame with log book. |
yep it will be soon on the streets as a clean 748 for sale or a cover up for a trcakbike if the police have a clampdown on stolen bikes. the only reason it so high is thats all their paying for a bike worth £4k+ |
Actually they bought the V5 document, not the frame and might be genuine too. The trick is that if you have an unregistered frame, an ex-race bike or a ex-crashed frame that you reconditioned, it is a lot of hassle to re-register the bike. And you get a lovely Q plate that you have trouble to insure anything more than third party. So if you buy V5 of crashed (non declared bike) you can claim that you are replacing the frame and apply the old numbers to the new frame (whether you tell the DVLA or not actually...). Then you can legitimately put a race bike on the road, providing you go through the MOT obviously. Obviously that trick also work for the B4stards that nick bikes.... |
Hmmmm...now it so happens that I have a spare bent frame with a V5 and it's not declared.... offers????? |
If it is off a 996 you may have my attention as I eventually want to register my Track bike (built from a clean Foggy frame). But paying £400 something for it, probably not!! [Edited on 28-4-2006 by pguenet] |
Nah...it's an ssie frame. |
