mot on saturday and i cant get my number blate bulb to work, will it fail on this ??? the guys are pretty good and let through race cans and small plates coz they know we'd only go home and change them over again. |
Hi deej, just run a wire from the live side of your fuse box,to the number plate bulb and another down to earth.Job done,10 mins tops. Steve |
Hi again,I painted the inside of my rear light black so it dosn't light up the number plate!purely so as not to dazzle the poor peaple behind, done this on most of my fast bikes for years, never failed a mot yet. Steve |
I believe that number plate light is not part of the items tested on a bike. I had an MOT on Monday and it wasn't checked. RX |
it is part of it but wasnt picked up on as the bulbs so small |
My bike passed it's MOT yesterday, I'd just like to warn you all (if you didn't already know), that if your bike has a rear seat, then you WILL NEED PILLION PEGS. My 748S has never had pegs and I nearly failed the MOT cos of it. Thanks to Pro Twins who let me borrow a pair for the MOT. Just a word of warning for you.... off to source some very cheap pegs then.... Ade. ps. Good to meet rcgbob44 at pro twins too. Smart bike. |
Number plate bulb is one of the first things I check for an MOT, they seem to fail way more often then any other bulb on the bike. Usually it's just a matter of replacing the bulb, although those bulbs can be a bit reluctant to come out of the bulb-holder. A spot of electrical grease or Vaseline doesn't hurt here. |
i guess it all depends on where you take it ath, never heard of a bike failing coz it didnt have pillion pegs for the pillion seat. just shows hof messed up our laws are if thats the case |
Deej, too true mate. It's daft. They knew I was going back to pro twins to borrow a pair and they'll be off in under half an hour. What is the point?!! Daft if you ask me. |
never heard of that one before...must be loads on here who have taken em off..in which case thanks for the warning |
Only necessary if your bike has a pillion seat. Obviously. ;) I seem to have become an MOT saddo all of a sudden. |
I was led to believe that certain items that are optional must work, but only if they are fitted. So if you had front facing fog lamps on a car and they didn't work then it would fail - however if you removed them then it would pass.... perhaps the same applies to the rear number plate light. I've noticed a lot of companies that sell after market under trays always supplied new tail lights with number plate lights fitted. |
number plate light is law so the police can see your number plate in the dark |
