Airbus A380 into Heathrow

Hello,

I read in a local rag that the new Airbus A380 will be flying into Heathrow on the 18th of this month.

Can anybody clarify this, was thinking of counting the tiles on the roof, just in case I am missing a few

Following a shout around my office, I can confirm that this is indeed true.
A380 coming to do ground handling and airport compatibility assessment at LHR on 18 May.

Hello RickyX

I am told it's scheduled in at 12.00L (Midday) and will be going to T3 for "compatibility trials" - departs the next day sometime.
Not a SIA a/c (although it may have it painted on the side) - this will be a flight test aircraft (not fully certificated yet) operating on French Reg under Airbus ownership.

Hope that helps!

(p.s. I'm not a "spotter" - just work in the business for the UK Airline that has 6 A380's on order)

According to the BBC News website :
'The aircraft is due to land at Heathrow at approximately 13:20 BST'

I think Ricky works on GMT, and BST is, after all, GMT + 1.

It was on Sky news this morning, so it looks like there will be some camera crews around to capture the event in case you can't make it in person.

Correction: apparently the landing time has been put but by an hour!

yeah right! Call me cynical, but my last flight into Heathrow from Brussels, took 4 hours, with an hour of that waiting on the tarmac at Heathrow for a bus! And yes, then 3 did come at once:D

Well, the amount of plane spotters I had to walk past from the carpark to the office was a lot larger than usual! (I work at Heathrow)

Some of them are a little scarey ...

It would take quite a bit of paper to put an airbus together!

If we used the colour printer though we could be on to something ...

Just watched it flying over central London - that is one big plane.

BIG-G 18-May-2006 15:39

Caught it tipping it's wings over Airbus Nr Chester at 11.30 this am and did a low fly pass. It's something special close up.
