Son\'s 16th birthday - ideas please? Mini moto, go karting? It'll be my eldest son's 16th birthday this weekend and I'd like to make it a day to remember. I know I've left it a bit late but I could put it back a week or two if timings don't work out but anybody got any recommendations on what to do or where to go. It'll be him and a group of friends - some may be under 16 so that may be a problem on some faster sports but we'll see. Ideally, would like to invite the parents to join in aswell - nothing like a bit of on track argy bargy between parents and siblings. So far, we have: 1. Mini-moto day (everything would have to be provided but not for everyone) 2. Go Karting (Buckmore park springs to mind but I think they have restrictions on adults and children racing on the same circuit). 3. Paintballing (not everyones cup of tea so may prove difficult to get everyone to agree) 4. Quad biking - easy enough for everyone to enjoy and very enjoyable. Did this in Devon on my stag weekend along with clay pigeon shooting & paintballing. Any other ideas are gratefully recieved but time (and cost) is of the essence so weblinks, prices, phone numbers would be really helpful. Oh and we are based in SE London / Kent so ideally Kent / Essex area would be ideal or somewhere pretty near. Thanks for any ideas and thoughts, simon |
go karts my nephew and his friends did this for his birthday great fun ;) http://www.intotheblue.co.uk/site/pa...ng-23.aspx#a57 |
Give him a gliding lesson. Much more memorable than karting which most of his mates will have already done. I sent my stepson solo in a glider on his 16th. He will NEVER forget that one! |

Just had a look and it's difficult when some of his mates will still be 15 even though they are touching 6 ft. :puzzled: so they are only allowed on the kids track. I'll give them a call anyway and see how strict they are. Lots of other ideas aswell. Thanks simon |

Now that's pretty unique. Can you remember how much it cost and who organises it? Thanks simon |

I got an interview with the Coal Board for my 16th......... |
I'm dying to suggest something that involves an 18 year old blonde (girl that is) .... but I am resisting the temptation. When normal service kicks I will come back with a suitable suggestion. |
How about a chimney sweep brush and send the bugger out to earn a living !!!:lol::lol::lol::lol: |
No question here..I know he can ride Simon...so.. What about a day at ron haslams race shcool at donny doing the 'on track' course ? Rons as good as gold - he may even take him for a lap of donny on the back of a blade if you explain its his 16th..? http://www.haslamraceschool.com/ Nat [Edited on 2-5-2006 by Nattyboy] |

Similar idea but you could go for an intro lesson in a light airplane or Helecopter. I've been lucky enough to do both and they are great days. Only problem is it would not involve his friends or the other parents. For a group activity you could look at the outdoor type day. You've already mentioned the quads, you can link it in Honda Pilot racing, paintball and similar to make a full day out. What ever you do, hope he has a great day ... all the best.
