Is there a Mod for the stand on my 748R

Can i modify the electrics on my bike so i can have the engine running with the stand down , at the moment I can only have the engine running with the stand up which is a bit of a pain.

I think it just a case of removing stand switch and putting a loop wire in !

Mine was done before I got it.

If I am wrong someone will be along shortly to correct me

Oh welcome by the way

Have a look here mate - I've got something similar on mine (but not bought through this guy so can't verify the quality etc.).

I purchased one on Ebay, about £20 but at least it had all the correct AMP connectors and coudl be removed in 30secs if the new owner didn't like it. Good instructions. The connectors come to about £8-9 plus wires and labour/diodes, so I thought it was good value. Note for 50p and a soldering Iron you could do the mod yourself, but it involves cutting the loom.

Cheers

Paul

Did my bike this way, easy mod and no expenditure involved.:D

Note the kit I purchased off Ebay contains diodes such that if the stand is down and it is in gear it won't start. Also if it is started and you engage the gear with the stand down the engine cuts out. Good idea if you don't want to fall off pulling away from work, home or worse still the pub!

It's best to keep her upright when warming up.
I was told by a longstanding Duc owner that it's an oil thing, you starve the clutch side of the engine.
Use minimum revs 1000 max; it takes 2 min for the oil to fully reach the rockers on the top cylinder head!
Less revs = less initial wear, you have the lumpiest cams on a Duc and these wear the rockers more.
The 748r is a lot harder to warm up than a bip as the lightened flywheel struggles to keep the engine turning over.
I've had a 2002 r for the last 2 years and have worked out some of its idiosyncrasies.
