Bike insurance companies?

Right - gotta insure this rice rocket - anyone recently had a decent quote and can recommend a particular insurance company?

I'll have to do the trawling through the insurance companies advertised in MCN, I've tried CN, CIA and Bennets - any others that are decent?

Thanks
Tim

Laxton's Insurance have been good to me.

I've always found a decent quote from choicequote with my postcode. No idea what they are like for claiming, but my lad Jase had an off on his 125 and they didn't have a problem with it being taken from their hands by rider support.
Choicequote worked very hard to beat Ducati Insurance when Jase changed to a Monster as they were very keen to keep our business.

Torview....fully comp this year was £235.00..:D

Redruth 16-May-2006 19:35

Have you tried Directchoice? Admittedly, I'm a tad older than you, female and have 11 years NCB but you might (if you mention that you're landed gentry) qualify for a bit of a discount :devil:

bradders 16-May-2006 19:36

esure

Rattler 16-May-2006 19:41

Tim

Rattler 16-May-2006 19:42

Esure don't seem to do bikes, will try the others

mogwai 16-May-2006 19:44

Be interesting to see what Torview come up with..

Ian Harris 16-May-2006 19:47

www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk were cheapest by far for me, and I think they do multi-bike policies too.

ebikeinsurance are £50 more expensive than CIA - best quote so far £350.

Thanks for the help
Tim

Ozz 16-May-2006 20:02

I got mine with Carole Nash but initially they were more expensive. I was then told to try biketeam and did an online quote which was about £100 cheaper. Phoned Carole Nash back and they found a better cover quote which was £80 less.

Rattler 16-May-2006 20:03

Yep - will do the call backs once I have the cheapest quote.

Thanks
Tim

Just paid £235 FC for 749s in outer London (SE)

Definately try Access Underwriting - cheap and seem to know Dukes. Even insured my termi's when no other would.

DW Laxton do my two-bike policy and have been the cheapest using Simon London's play-one-off-against-the-other technique

Good luck mate.

I also used Simon London's method and it worked pretty well for me.

Interesting thread, hopefully I will be looking once again for insurance soon.

Used Carole Nash for years as breakdown recovery was always included, do most insurers have this now or is it worth getting something seperate, and if so which?

Cheers - Frank

Rattler 17-May-2006 13:26

Right - have now taken out insurance - thanks for the help.

My findings;
I contacted virtually all of those listed above (it was too late for some) - so many thanks for the responses.

Most companies were circa 400 quid - Grp 17, 3 years no claims, 41 years old, 3 points - the cheapest initially were Access and CIA which were 350 quid. The most expensive were Bennetts were 450, Carole Nash 483.

Access were favourites - I then did the ringing back - I wanted to get an alarm fitted and Carole NAsh offered a Datatool IV system for 300 quid that included free fitting of ground anchor and heavy duty chain, free datataging of the bike. This reduced their offering from 483 quid to 383 - still no good for the policy, but the alarm was a good deal. I said that I had been quoted 342 by Access and then they dropped it to 326!!!!

So - Carole Nash it is, its definitely worth phoning around and then calling back again to compare.

Thanks for the info
Tim
