Ouch that hurt

Today I was at Cadwell on my new litre race bike, it was looking immaculate !

4th session in and after one sighting lap the instructor pulls over, I approach the hairpin breaking heavy and bang I'm hit hard from behind, I go up and land on the bike then we both go down in a heap

My hand hurts like hell and I'm sent to Hospital, luckily it's just bruising and it's in bandage for 5 days. The bike is a mess and I've given up counting the cost of the damage as it's over £1000.

The guy that hit me couldn't stop apologising saying he was 'racing' his mates and had to get by them at the hairpin, he got by them alright, he and his bike are pretty much ok too

I just don't know why people ride way beyond their limits on a trackday, if beating people is that important then shouldn't they be racing ?

Bugger mate I hope your ok in the morning !

Will he pay for the damage ?

Age

couchcommando 19-May-2006 17:14

No offer to pay for the damage, he did offer to make me a footrest.
I guess that's the way it goes :(

GsxrAge 19-May-2006 17:19

Whats the normal policy on this sort of thing e.g who pays for damage ?

khushy 19-May-2006 17:20

I think its "you make your choices and live with the consequenses"

It's a trackday, there's no insurance. If somebody doesn't want to or can't pay it would be so much trouble getting it out of them you'd just as well not bother :( Just a shame the shiny TLR looks such a mess now

Can i help,.....................you DD nutter:D

weeksy2 19-May-2006 17:57

Couch, the 916 is there for you for Donny in two weeks. Will be fully race prepped and ready to go mate.

Might need you to collect it, and bring it back with a tank of fuel ;)

wilf 19-May-2006 18:01

That's harsh,

I've been feeling sorry for myself after i got taken out in a race, i'd have been really p****d off if it had just been a trackday.

good luck with the fix, at least you're ok.

domski 19-May-2006 18:44

Sorry to hear that Couch, what a knobber!!!

Maybe it was a message from god - you know DD makes sense ;)

Hope you're OK and you can fix the bike up for a lot less than £1000 :o

Soirry to hear about what happened & more importantly the reason why it happened, somehow it kind of relates to this thread from the Trackday section.

you have my sympathies. i was taken out by a nobber at Donington last year - week before the race and £600 of damage.

if these guys think they are so great they should be racing - actually what really ****ed me off was that Focused Events (was their track day) couldn't give a ****!

Dukerob 20-May-2006 22:48

That's a bummer Tony, hope you get it sorted as inexpensively as poss, there's plenty of tw4ts about and quite a few of 'em are riding bikes unfortunatley cos they're more affordable than supercars!
Rob

edited as this tw4t can't spell :P
