999\'s and Wheelies I do like to pull the odd wheelie but now I have the 999 I'm wondering if I should, I remember horror stories of the 916 series dumping oil in the airbox or starving the engine of oil on long wheelies. So the question is, is this still a problem on the 999's ? |
The Testastretta engines have a deeper sump than the earlier bikes so are much more wheelie friendly ;) |

Will you teach me how to do proper wheelie's couch? :D I've always wanted to be able to do them! |
Bloody show off.................. Teach me to please:lol::lol: |

I thought only the S and R model had deep sumps :puzzled: |
it is , I think, I know the 999 up to 05 were not deep sump, so 999S and 999R yes plain 999 if you can say that, NO wheels. you might get oil starvation and as you wont be waching the oil pressure not good. :flame::burn::burn: |
thought the problem was long wheelies.....stunt man style rather than out with the boys up-thru-a-couple of gears-and-down style |
His wheelies are kinda long! I'll hang back a bit then, just in case! |
ar - his avtar should have given me a clue... |

BTW,its only the 999S/R and 749R that get the deep sump motor. |
Bugger best stick to short wheelies or fit a deeper sump LOL |

A 998R has a deep sump ;) I'm expecting some wheelie instruction here! |
You want to get a little underpowered dirt bike to learn on, you tend to abuse the clutch, head bearings, chain and forks a bit when you're learning, I know I did! |
or a scooter.. 1 Attachment(s) ..or instead of a dirt bike.. a nice 50cc scooter... (just to understand the right point and not to be scared of flipping over.. as the rear brake on a scooter is on your left hand and not on your right foot!!) The 06' 999 bip i had for a loan bike last week had the deep pyramid type sump on it looked well cool:D:D |
