Black or Gold wheels

I was thinking of having my 748 wheels painted black. What do people prefer. Black or Gold.

I would do the frame, but that looks like a lot of work taking the bike apart

I have a black bike with gold wheels (proper gold too and not that funny greeny bronze that Ducati painted the frame with) and on the rare occasions they aren't covered in chain lube and brake dust they look absolutely magic.

I don't like black wheels at all, or for that matter carbon front mudguards on yellow or red Ducatis. IMHO, they are too much of a contrast and make the bike look clumsy. Funnily though, I don't mind black wheels on Jap bikes.

........I won't wear black trainers either. :D

Satin black.....
Taking the frame out isn't that bad:)

IainMac 24-May-2006 20:26

Some time ago I painted my old 916 wheels with halfrauds gold alloy wheel aerosols as the original paint fell off.
I didnt do too bad a job, run and blemish free but it still looked naff , wrong shade. I soon wished I'd painted them black instead.

Have metalic black wheels on mine - they sparkle in the sun and catch the eye!

You're forever cleaning gold ones (although a gloss metalic gold......mmmmmm)

Moley :rodent:

I think gloss black against highly polished Termis has something going for it :saint:

I agree with Dave996 & Co, satin black.
Gloss black and gold are very nice too, but white - must be a nightmare to clean and keep clean and as twpd states, very 80's.

If the frame is grey then satin black powder coat wheels. Looks very subtle, trick and race. Carbon front and rear huggers set the look off.

my 748 is all black gloss (apart from the swing arm and frame which ive still gotta get done) with white no. boards and details love it ghost rider style
