hit "user settings" on the menu bar, then go to "edit avatar" ( its on the left of side settings menu at hte bottom of hte top most block) you can then select from any the admins have added or up your own, instructions are there for doing both :)

logyk 31-May-2006 13:26

I see all that ...but what happened to my original avatar???????

kwikbitch 31-May-2006 13:34

I know...I feel a new avatar coming on though:D

desmobob 31-May-2006 17:48

Where my Avatar go ?

There's no option to "Upload" an Avatar of my choice, just predefined ones :(

You should see a choice underneath the Predefined Generic Avatars that says Custom Avatar. Go in there and you can put a url to link to a pic hosted on the web or you can upload one from your pc.

Can you see that?

If not, I suggest you send a PM to the webteam.

AK 31-May-2006 17:58

seems the option isnt available for non members tp as ck hasnt got that on her avatar bit but i have

logyk 31-May-2006 20:35

When I tried the above it it came back with a failed message BUT when I checked my posting it had worked.

doogalman 31-May-2006 21:36

If i use image shack? what address line do i use on the page that opens after i have hosted the pic. I cut and paste the addresses to the custom avtar bit and get the message that it's invalid. I am clicking on the resize option for thumbnail , is this right?

YMFB 31-May-2006 21:44

well Im just testing mine out and as this is the AVATAR thread seemed the best place to start

YMFB 31-May-2006 21:47

I used to have a picture as part of my signature, is that no longer an option ?

doogalman 31-May-2006 21:47

I think it's probably me doing something wrong. Don't know what!
What i need is a Dummys guide to avatars.

YMFB 31-May-2006 21:48

I managed it so it cant be too tricky, honest

doogalman 31-May-2006 21:59

So, on the image shack site which line of info do you use to put into the dsc site???

Mark 31-May-2006 22:03

NBs996 31-May-2006 22:18

doogalman 01-Jun-2006 20:50

Can someone please post an example of what a correct URL is suppose to consist of as i am going around in endless circles between here and image shack to crack this.

Gizmo 01-Jun-2006 20:56

Like it. Made I larff

Gizmo 01-Jun-2006 22:49

ok, think i've solved one reason why the avatars aren't appearing. if you are in plain white theme you won't see them, the red theme is displaying correctly so to check make sure you view in default style not white theme.....

edited to remove unneeded code following Eamonn's reply

Eamonn 01-Jun-2006 23:05

The white theme deliberately hides avatars and graphics buttons (for reply, quote, etc) in order to make it 'work friendly' with as few images and colours as possible.

Think of it as stealth mode..... :)
