Had a quick look, it looks good, I'd love one but not sure of the price £35,000? I know a dealer up here has a deposit on one. Don't think I could bring myself to sell the 998r though so it would have to sit alongside it in the garage!

When do deliveries start? only one a week being made??

Can't wait to see one in the flesh as it were.

Be very interested if a less expensive lookie likie came out with a 999r motor in.

That is an amazingly neat back end, but it's one bike that actually looks much better in race rep colours. Without them there's just a big slab of red in the profile shots and it's too much.

Mind you, it's fantastic to have a Duke back on the top of the 'ultimate bike' list.

No bike is worth 35k for the road............honestly how and where are you going to use a 35k superbike.?.....its OTT....18500 for a 999r is surely enough aint it.?

bearing in mind that most Ducati dealers and their technicians are sh*te - who would you trust to service/fettle it????

part of me agrees and then the other part of me looks at sports cars.. or in fact any car or bike or house even above what you actually need.

Why pay more for anything than is needed?

People spend tens (and even hundreds) of thousands on cars that you can still only do the speed limit in and you could do that in a second hand KIA costing 500 quid!

I would love a DB9 or a 911, but realistically my golf is far more practical, but if I had the cash would i buy a porsche? HELL YEAH!

I DONT like it at all, looks too much like they took parts of the 999, 916 and a SS and built it. Luckily with that price I dont like it and wouldnt buy it, but thats just me

Take a 999R for £20k add a set of those gas Ohlins forks at around £12-15k and you get £32-35k !!! so ............ buy one of these instead and get 2 free cylinders !!

Dont think it looks like a ZX6R. I have one of those and the lights in the Duke are much sleeker. Goes to show Ducati dont need to reinvent the 916 to come up with a fantastic design, some real clever detailing going on there.

i dont see why everyones so hung upon the pirce, you can buy a mv for £30k thats nowhere evcen near winning a wsb race leat alone a motogp race/title !!!

that bike is stunning and if i could afford one i'd have one and i'd ride the damn thing too, theres no way it would just sit in the lounge and never get ridden

ducati have also denied that they will homolgamate it for wsb racing too

How long before a race team owner buyes a couple of these and goes WSB/BSB racing. I cant see what would stop them. In anything other than a factory team the 999 is not competitive with the fours and so £35.000 would be a bargain for race team who will have 200bhp before they even think about tunning. Foggy Petronas seem to be able to race bikes that are not even and wont ever be in production so I see no reason why these RR's cant be bought and raced. I have to say that I dont want to see the twins disapear from the grid but in a place where money and winning is the order of the day I see it as a for gone conclusion. (Maybe someone will point out the error of my ways)

The other manufacturers will just have to catch up then won't they ? I seem to recall H*nda spending zillions to get a big ugly twin to take on the Ducati's in WSB some time back. Not sure how the Foggy bike gets away with homologation rules, can't say I've heard of many being sold ?

The price tag is pretty irrelevant, if you want one and can afford it go and buy it, if you can't afford one and you want one get out there and work your nads of to buy it, if you don't want one don't buy one. They will be made in limited numbers (or so those with deposits on one hope !!) so there should be a reasonable resale value.

Lets face it £35k is pocket change to some people.

In honesty this sort of bike isn't ridden much on the road whereas WSB homologation bikes seem to get well used. Different price bracket but I doubt many will be left unsold.

I'd have one but just don't have any more bike space in the workshop now.

was very seriously thinking about one but decided against it after getting rogered with the 999r! £35k is 10k too much imho.
It would be a shame to thrash such an exquisite bike within an inch of its life but it would just have to be done!
I get the feeling anyone buying one wont suffer the depreciation nightmare of the early 999r, but once bitten!
Now if it was £25k then i would have gone for it.

A number of the Foggy Petronas bikes complete with headlights and indicators were "homligated" for WSB a few years ago now. I have no idea of how many of the bikes have been produced or sold to the public. I assume there is a bit of gray area in process between "intented sale" and actual

In order for a model to be homligated in WSB it has to be "presented" for homligation by the manufacturer. Ducati have stated that they will not homligate the D16 for WSB. They will continue with the 999 platform and, at a guess, lobby for a displacement increase to close the HP gap with the competition.

The V-twin represents the Ducati marque and has done so for the last 30 years or so. Ducati believe its customers of the past, present and future want to retain V-twins as the core powerplant for the company and it's respective models.

Homligation of the D16 would be commercal suicide for the BRAND. Alienation of current and prospective customs is not the wat forward for the company

I couldn't agree more. Ducati are V-Twins and that is why I hope they get their capacity increase because otherwise they will be forced down another route or withdrawl from WSB. As long as the rules are changed so the playing field is level then long live the twin.
