What to wear under leathers?

Dear All,

I've got a No Limits track day at Brands Indy circuit booked for Monday (12/06/06) and will wear my one-piece leathers. As it looks like it's going to be hot I know it's going to be tricky getting in and out of my leathers. Has anyone tried an under suit?

I've got a thin thermal top and trousers that I got from a fishing tackle shop that might do, but wondered about the EDZ / Extreme racing equivalents.

While I'm here any tips on the track day would be good. It's my second one but the last was 4 years ago, so equally excited and nervous.

Any help much appreciated.

Regards

Mark O'Connor.

I use a one piece Knox silk under suit, makes life alot easier to get in and out of one piece leathers. I think Hien Gerick are doing them for about forty quid at the moment.

no not at all mate. I wish I could be of more help, but I cant. I will be watching the answer with much interest as last Sunday I could barely get out of mine, and they scratch me to bits on the way on.

I did have one idea which would help the on/off problem but not practical.

I have worn something simular to pyjamas, a thin T-Shirt and some trousers made of the same material work ok for me certainly in the heat in Spain and cost me a grand total of £8 from tescos.

I recomend Helly Hansen (spelling???) Base layer. I Use it regularly under one piece leathers. Added advantage of this clothing is that it doesn't smell bad after a few days use like the EDZ under suits do! :)

There's heaps of different undersuits available.

I used a Receka one last year, it wasn't the race one but it didn't survive a crash at Cadwell at the start of the year.

I replaced it with an EDZ suit which I'm yet to ride in but trying them on with the leathers is good. I also like the idea of the Kushitani undersuits - I'm going to try one of those soon hopefully.

Personally I use a light tee and Ron Hills on the bottom which work fairly well....

Iconic944ss 09-Jun-2006 12:04

Helly Hansens are good and can be bought reasonably from some sports shops or outlets - we have a Mountain Warehouse (i think its called) locally and they always seem to have them discounted. Ladies sizes can be even more discounted since thet sell less frequently - not that I've worn any womans under garments, obviously

domski 09-Jun-2006 12:05

I used a Receka undersuit last season, but it just seemed to cook me even more.

I'm using a rash vest now (like what surfers etc wear) it's much better. A ventilated set of leathers would probably be more useful though.

Alpinestars undersuit works a treat for me.
Hot or cold.

2-piece Rukka base layer for me. Wicks moisture away nicely.

I tend to wear a white silk scarf and white fishermans socks turned down over the top of my boots. Oooh heck i've just had a hot flush....

Sharpy G 09-Jun-2006 22:08

I use the EDZ undersuit, works a treat, I can now get in & out of a size 40/50 Spidi NRG Pro 1 piece suit......without the help of the wife

I have one of their tops. They are designed for hill walkers etc, to be super wicking, ie they soak up the sweat off your body very quickly and then let it pass through to your next layer of clothing. Real good when you are up a freezing mountain, working up a sweat as you walk then take a rest for a cuppa and a look at the view. Stops the sweat cooling you down and giving you a chill. I have only used mine in winter, not tried it in the warm weather but will give it a go.

kwikbitch 12-Jun-2006 19:37

I do beleive modern digital camers can take many pictures thus creating a sequence.
We could then advise where you might be going wrong.
Could be just technique you know.
Dont know if you have a pub night in your area, but perhaps some of the lads could advise over a few pints
;o)

marko 13-Jun-2006 06:55

EDZ suit ,I wore mine this weekend at RTL and it was hot ,thing is, know matter how hot and sweaty you get the suit stops the leathers sticking to your skin. they work for me

Bones 13-Jun-2006 08:33
