996S they all do that I know this is utter crap but my 996S with chip and 54mm pipes splutters when you give it loads and you kind of have to roll the throttle on not pin it. Hacketts say all the "S" models do that. Cannot see it my self anyone....anyone? |
My 996 bip did it until I fitted an ultimap chip. |
Its not right..... ....its gotta be poor fueling; If its always done it since the pipes and chip were fitted, is probably the chip, - go for a FIM Ultimap and get it setup for your bike. - or get a decent chip for 54mm open pipes. If its only recently started then it may be blocked fuel filter or blocked air filter..... Tim |
I used to own a 996s with 54mm pipes and mine was fine apart from the odd popping from the silencers when on the over run. |
Thanks for the info boys. I have thrown it back at Hackett's with an oil leak thrown in for good measure! |
My 998s with 50mm temi`s and Dp ECU does that after a thrash, completely cuts out in fact. Then i have to waite for a minute or so before it will restart.????????????????????????:o ps I`m told a lot of duke do this! |

Have a read of Shazaam's response on this, as it offers a (possible!) cure: http://ducatisportingclub.com/contro...d.php?tid=2767 |
Antonye Have read the wise sage Shazams thought on the above but i know its a fueling problem and not a connector problem. Methinks i will investigate further, thanks for the advice anyway. Take care. |

From your description it sounds exactly the same, hence the reason I mentioned it, especially the "wait for a minute or so before it will restart" bit!! Next time it happens, give Shazaam's trick a try and see if it works. Don't forget to let us know what happens... |
996s Cheif Hacket is right they all do it. Its something to do with the second injector throwing to much fuel in. The way round this is to fit a FIM chip that only uses one injector or to fit a power commander to sort the fueling. |
I get some hesitation on my 996S when accelerating in a high gear from about 5.2/5.4 k revs and a 'cough' when just cracking the throttle open from tickover when pulling away. I have 50mm Termi's and a DP chip. I recall the 'they all do that' story from JHP re. the first problem, but the second is sortable because theyactually sorted it, but it is back again now - this is a b*oody nuisance. Bike is in for 18k service at JHP in one weeks time (yes, really, mine is for riding, not just looking at!) - may get a different chip fittted during the service because warranty expires shortly thereafter - will let you know the score then. Cheers. |
my 996s did do it, and it was quite disconcerting, i had an ultimap chip fitted and it was superb from then onwards |
my 996S had low speed popping etc with standard cans but only after my 1st year 4000 mile service. Don't know what they did (shims I think) but it was 10 times worse after that. 50mm open race carbon termis and Ultimap UM239 chip and was a new bike. Could actually ride bike as low as 3000rpm :). So does the 54mm system make any disernable extra horsepower? I never felt any extra HP after fitting open 50mm race termis. |
Hacketts recon on about 6-8 english horses but with a slid rule facted in and converting into euros it feels between nowt and summut! to be fair the power is all up the top end and is very noticable along with the sound. My lovely wife took me to pick it up and when they started it up down stairs in the work shop she went very pale! |
