999 started running bad

As of this morning my 999 for some reason started running bad. It started OK but within 2 mins it lost power and stalled. I managed to get it started to limp home. It feels like it only firing on one and it's not even raining!!
Any thoughts?

Relays!

Poor quality fuel!

You need my brand new unused/uncoded 999/999S Ducati Performance Race ecu for a full system, that will get it running good.
List price is near £800 according to the dealer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, yours for £200.

Front cylinder plug cap/coil is the usual culprit.Whip it out and clean it up,inside and out.(I think its a 10mm nut,..if not,the reverse end of the tool kit plug spanner fits.)
If you can get the plug out, clean that up as well.
It may be the coil is breaking down,...quite a common fault on these bikes unfortunately.

Alan, when mine started acting like that it needed a new ecu. Lets hope it's a coil, huh! I've got a couple of spares if you want to see if it fixes it.

Seems to have fixed itself. I did think front plug cap myself, I'm having a look tomorrow!

You were right mate!

The front plug cap full of water...

KeefyB 19-Jun-2006 05:56

Yeah they do that. The rubber seal is just not up to the job of keeping out the damp.Italia Moto have smeared a load of grease around mine to help the seal.I have also invested in an extended V peice from Casoli to stop some of the spray.
