Hangin up me sidi's....

Cos some really lovely guy has asked me to marry him and i'm off to a new life in Oz :D Ade - who some of you know and have met asked me to be his wife and I can think of nothing better - I said YES.

Needless to say I have much to do - and much to stay safe for.
So with much searching, because I really wanted to lose my orange jacket, i've come to the decision that it's time for me to stop being your mobile chicane and move to Perth :)

I just wanna say - how absolutely brilliant the DD has been. How wonderful you all you are. How much i've enjoyed it and how much it's also made me want to cry with my own disappointment at my performance!
However i've been there and done it. I missed being out with you lots on Sat and not sure how i'd cope if i was at the next meeting which I was going to do - however i'm hoping to be in Aus as far as I know by then house hunting :)

Team Icklepooh is no more - however Team Ickleroo will continue eventually i'm sure.

I just want to thank you all for whats been an amazing 18 months.

Good luck to you all and watching you Sat was fantastic if a bit distressing for me.

So for now - Thank you to Graeme and to Slob for all their help. Thank you to my kids for their unstinting support. Thank you to all the organisers for making it happen and all those who have offered their help and support, words of encouragment and slaps around the head ;)

I also want to thank Ade - if he sees this, He has never once asked me not to race, despite how much he hates seeing me out there so for you my love - you only have to worry about spilt Vimto and trampolines now ;)

P's my hospitality( 5 berth caravan) unit is for sale, as is Ade's green Transporter van 1999 and a yellow 600 monster and my 2/3 bike trailer.

Pah ! - DD has been a huge and essential part of my life for the last 18 months- for that i'm eternally grateful !

I few wise decisions Lin
Having you enter at the begining of the DD series was great and you showed so many that all that was needed to go racing was a bit of will power and a bike (Max)
Wishing you all the best in the choices you have made

Kev

I'd give up DD if I could leave England too!!

I hope you have a very happy life at the world's bottom (or is it the bottom of the world?). Can you take TP with you?

Seriously though Lin, it's been a pleasure to know you and you'll be missed in the paddock.

...and you've raced at Assen :D :D :D

Take care

;)

Congratulations Lin and best wishes for your future happiness and success.

I thought I was abusing my position by finding out that there are 4 users on here listed in Perth and 12 (minimum) listed as being in Australia.

However, it turns out anyone can do an advanced search of members by location / interest etc here:

http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/me....php?do=search

Now then - an Invite to a DD at Eastern Creek would be really special

Regards - Frank

Huge congrats Lin, sure you'll find Oz bliss (apart from the lack of racetracks!). Won't be the same not having you around the paddock/grid/track...:o Sure you'll be back on two wheels in Oz in no time. Numpty across the Nullabor! :D

A strange coincidence:

phoenix n max 10-Jul-2006 22:35

Hey i'm hoping that bump arrives before I leave!

There is a Ducati club in Perth thats been going for 25years so i'm told - I'll see if I can convert a few this way ;) However I can see a new monster club springing up as there will be 3 of us there an I did see a few when I was there last.

The logistics of all this is dead scary - I think i'd rather be racing ;) but in the end it will be so worth it.

If you pay me i'll sneak you as far as the plane - Well I gotta earn a living somehow, even if i'm not allowed ;)

Apart from the obvious of starting a new life with Ade - i'm also hopefully going to go back to something i'd forgotten how much I love. I got out of horses 15 years ago when I broke my pelvis and various other less important bones in a fall competing in cross country. One of the reasons I hate lefts - cos I simply can't get off the bike that way. I used to compete weekly and was trained by a german olympic coach. I'd given up all hope of returning to teaching mostly. However Ade has encouraged a skill I take for granted - So if anyone visits Perth sometime in the future and fancies an outback trek on horseback plus a hoon around the local scenic routes on a few more hp - then you'll know who to call ;)

The future is bright - and by god i'll miss the DD paddock and miss talking to Max on the start grid telling him we'll both be fine. I'll miss the friendship that is DD, i'll miss all the friends i've made through the pure fact of owning a Ducati. I'll miss Scotland but hey i'm marrying a Scot. We'll make it work - oh yes!

I started DD not knowing what to expect - I was bought down to earth, had my confidence shattered in 05 and almost gave up then. I couldn't handle not trying again in 06 despite all sorts of lifes ups and downs during.

I'd like to think that somewhere along the line someone somewhere has looked at this, followed last years website, and thought if she can do it so can i. Max isn't a dedicated race bike, he's my road bike too. I put in more miles last year on the road than the track visiting dsc'ers as much as I could manage.

If you want to try racing a Ducati I can think of no better way than join the DSC - get a DD bike - you'll be made very welcome - ask Andy 900ss perhaps ?

You're all stars, ambassadors with a passion, forget the politics and this stuff is amazing - Hmmmm i'm gettin all emotional now !!!! Feck that!

Blimey - I've made a huge amount of friends and my future hubby too through the ownership of my Max, for that i'm eternally grateful.

For the experience that is DD - PRICELESS :D

andys 900ss 10-Jul-2006 22:53

Your absolutely right Lin,

The DD guys really are great people and you dont need a special race tuned RXXiiixx22i to enjoy it. I got my first taste this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed what you guys have been raving about for the last 18mths, now I see...

Take care and enjoy your future Lin, most my cousins moved over there 20yrs ago and love it to bits. Look after her Ade,

Andy

Settle down will ya!

You can't be doing all this emotional stuff in Perth - they'll boot you out! ;)

Actually, it's a South African outpost from what I understand - never been there myself mind.

I'll come over for the Barbagello DD round :D

Actually, I'd prefer the Phillip Island DD round - but that is almost as big a trip for you as it would be for us still here!! Have you heard about the Nullabor plain?

Nonnie 11-Jul-2006 19:36

Blimey Lin! I had to join this forum eventually so no better excuse than now.

You know how much I admired your spirit and your guts and I'n really pleased it's all got a happy ending. A seriously happy ending!

All the best to you and yours

xx
