Donington trackday before next DD round?

Just looking through some trackday stuff and Focused Events have got a quiet day on August 4th for £99! I assume the Duc could pass the noise limit with a DB killer in?
There are noisy days near to the race meeting, but they're around £50 more. There's a quiet day Saturday 12th, before the meeting too, but that's £135.

Anyone up for the cheap day....not that I'm tight or owt :p

ali 11-Jul-2006 10:47

I'm booked on the noisy day on the friday before as I'm not convinced I can get the DD bike down to 98db, even with db killers. I also need the rest day in between as I discovered this weekend!

Cheers,

Ali

domski 11-Jul-2006 11:41

I'm on the quiet day (Saturday) as the new turbo seems to keep the exhaust note nice and sedate like ;)

I don't need a day of rest seeing as I'm such an athelete, although my mechanics may want more time depending on whether the oil cooler works or not, and whether I decide to T-bone someone again.

:D

i need the practise to catch you front running 680 boys...............LOL

CK 11-Jul-2006 12:00

balancing out the costs of 2 x £70+ worth of diesel for 2 trips to Donny: once for a TD (also having to take a days hol off work too) , then again for the meeting,
it is therefore cheaper for us to do one trip for the TD on the Sat & race on the Sun - what we save on the fuel, the lads have paid for the TD (which was booked in early May)

:)

DP 11-Jul-2006 12:06

Who is running the Saturday TD ?

Tonio600 11-Jul-2006 12:10

the track itself I think...

I'm booked on Saturday! And double transport arranged, plus a kind offer from Cleggy just incase too! I WILL get there this time :D

What groups everyone in? I'm in Inters

DP 12-Jul-2006 07:33

Inters for me !!!!!

andyb 14-Jul-2006 10:04

Why are all you hardened racers  in the inters group?

What do they [Monster/SS 600s] do flat out? 100mph? 110? My old 600m did about 95. What do the 620s do standard? Maybe 115?

andyb 14-Jul-2006 12:08

Yeah, cos theres a lot of straights at Donington, especially on the National.............

domski 14-Jul-2006 12:18

I don't see what the problem is.

We're riding 45-63 bhp bikes, not designed for racing, most riders havn't even done 10 race meetings, and all of a sudden we're BSB stars ruining the inter group on a trackday?

Tell me you're on a wind up Andy!

The very fastest riders will only be doing 1m 25's, and if you can't do that on a 748/749/916 etc then you're over estimating your ability in the inter group.

Why is it when you've done a race meeting, all of a sudden you're a 'racer'?

We're just normal blokes AND GIRLS having some fun. Get over it!

:)

Just because you race a bike, it doesn't neccessarily mean you are fast on the track.

 Youll be telling me its the taking part that counts next!

domski 14-Jul-2006 12:54

Anyway, for me, it's all about taking part ;)

Even if I could afford one, I'm not sure I'd bother if it's not fast enough to get past a 600SS.

You pays yer money...

Racers can't afford trackdays.

andyb 15-Jul-2006 12:44

Is that why they make the most of the practice when they can afford it.................and go out amongst the mobile shicanes in the inters?

Tonio600 15-Jul-2006 13:07

/sigh :(

Grib 16-Jul-2006 17:33

Went and did an afternoon there yesterday, what a brilliant track, forgotten how good it is :) I was running at the top end of the Inters group on the 583, so it was a pretty slow day! Does give you a huge ego boost to drive round litre bikes down Craner Curves though :D

domski 16-Jul-2006 18:11

You're such a hooligan!!!

I think racers should be banned from everything!

;)

andyb 16-Jul-2006 18:42

As a racer i bet you must be over the moon with blowing away the inters group.......... (tongue in cheek!)

Grib 16-Jul-2006 19:03

Dom...I agree, I'm going to punish myself right away  :p

andyb...It was good overtaking practice, put it that way. Trackdays are nothing like racing, have to take racer head off for them ;)

Met a couple of members of the DSC up there too, one guy who recognised the Scooter Shop stickers and had a quick chat (nice tattoos btw :) ) and another who said he may come and watch us lot do our thing as he's trackdaying there the day before the race :) Another couple of really nice folks from the DSC, we've got quite a club here ya know.

(tongue in cheek)

As even the fastest desmo lap time is barely quick enough for the fast group inters it has to be on these low powered machines, I still find it surprising that people with 100hp more and sticky tyres can be passed on a desmo bike :)

Yeah, but you and Lucie are hardened racers - it's just not fair that you're allowed out on a trackday!

Especially as Lucie has done about 4 race meetings - that's outrageous, she's far too experienced for inters AND she's got 49bhp!!!!!

I'm going to write to my MP

That was Dallas with his 996SPS, he normally races with North Glos, last year he was on the ZX10R and binned it at Quarry when we were at Castle Combe
