antonye 12-Jul-2006 10:10

Email the race committee - desmodue@ducatisportingclub.com

Dominic Clegg 12-Jul-2006 10:13

will do just wanted to cheque that i didnt upset any one

domski 12-Jul-2006 11:37

You'll see that Ali Sheene uses this number in the 620 class.

I'm not sure they will let two DD riders use the same number???

You can ask though :)

Dominic Clegg 12-Jul-2006 11:41

so he does ill leave it till next season i think

antonye 12-Jul-2006 11:45

Plenty of riders with the same numbers across classes - that's why there are different colour number boards!

Shouldn't be a problem, just email the DD Committee as above.

Yes, I'm quite sure there are different colour number boards between Class A and Class B.

Nope, no bikes share the same numbers...
SELECT DD1.firstname, DD1.lastname, DD1.raceNumber, DD2.firstname, DD2.lastname, DD2.raceNumber FROM dd_standing_racers DD1, dd_standing_racers DD2 WHERE DD1.raceNumber = DD2.raceNumber AND (DD1.firstname != DD2.firstname OR DD1.lastname != DD2.lastname)
returned

The problem is that we've got lots of riders with two bikes, but no chance to race them due to mixed grids - Chris Woods, Paul Payne, Skids, Fil2, Rattler(?) and Phil Harris to name but a few.

However, because they are seperate classes, there is nothing stopping someone using the same number from another class - that is why we have different coloured number boards.

domski 12-Jul-2006 14:30

"Redgate to Race Control, number 7 has bits falling off"

"This is Race Control, which number 7?"

"It's a red one"

"Righto, that's not much help. What does the rider look like?"

"He's a big guy in a black suit Race Control"

"Ummm... OK, forget it!"

I've got no problem with it, but I wouldn't recommend it due to commentator/medic issues. If we could guarantee split grids.....

Use of the same race number on two different bikes during the same season has been avoided.
This has been deliberate.
This year is the first with two classes and on a mixed grid the different coloured number boards help identify the different classes not only to trackside officials but also to spectators.
Having identical numbers could confuse things, commentators just want to associate a race number with one riders name during a race and while we have combined grids this is how its likely to remain.
This also how New Era do things which is why some entering the SV/F400 class may have to change their number so as not to class with somebody else.
