Warning lights up grade help My poor old 900ss is showing her age with among other things the warning light cluster. During day light it is virutaly impossible to tell which lights are on. They all work but are not bright enough to show through the tired plastic face. I have had the cluster out and cleaned all the lamps and lenses but to no avail. Any ideas for a quick cheap fix ? I cant be the only one with this problem can I. Thanks Kev |

Ignore them? |
Fit a nice GPS SatNav unit over the top of them so you can't see them - just like Rally :) You'll be able to check which way the road ahead goes ! |
<frivolous reply removed, pending sense of humour being restored on the Board> :( |
Are we helping yet?? |
I have a cunning plan...... How about replacing the standard bulbs with 'SupaBright' LED's. Just solder them in. They come in all colours and sizes and you can pick them up at Tandys / Radio Shack etc. If you can't see those then you must have a really dark visor...... |
At last a sensible idea, The board seems to be full of wanabe comedians tonight ! We can all take the p1ss you know, t0ssers ! K |
kev you will need to check on the heat they put out first mate. could be ok but could melt your plastic cover as very close |
Do the monster ones fit the SS? They seem to be slightly brighter. Most of the time I have no idea when my indicators on or head light on main beam. Still it could be worse, at least I dont own a BMW GS old mans bike thingie. K :D |
You mean ... you take notice of warning lights !!! Just stick some gaffer tape over them  I'll get my coat :smug: |
Hi Kev, Can't say I've had this problem with my 93 900ss - I wonder if the the plastic windows have degraded in some way. No doubt it would have to be replaced with a full new unit but, they do come up on Ebay with some frequency. As an aside have you checked your battery voltage and all the earth's recently? Also, I wonder if the p*ss takers will be glad to pay for you to rebuild your engine when you can't see your oil press light come on :mad::mad: Cheers - Frank |

I'll put a fiver aside for you Kev :D |
Hi Kev, My 600ss is the same and it has a brand new battery and newer regulator. I put my 900ss ie in neutral the other day and nearly got blinded !!! I'll post what to do when I've solved it, although its not really high on my priority list. Andy |
Same question asked here: http://www.ducati.ms/forums/showthread.php?t=7075 But with some reasonable replies - how unusual? Frank |
would these replace the existing bulbs?? http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=44&products_id=301&osCsid=0 22b0caa48d7bc77105875faa56316d6 they also do twist and lock type bulbs and holders that sits in the warning light cluster board interested cos i have the same problem on my SS- did think of an audible alarm on the indicator circuit |
a bit pricey but you do get digital speedo and rev counter plus temp gauge(ACE-3915) if you want it http://www.acewell.co.uk/en_uk/products/index.htm |

Kev is just as good at handing out the p*ss taking as receiving it - wind yer neck in  |
Try removing all the coloured covers and buy a packet of fruit gums, stick them over the lights and there you go,job done.......... |
