any ideas on number wanting to do it. if theres a few good numbers and people have no problem with me looking into it ill sort it.

p.s. i know no limits sort us lot out with a dicount but they got no snetterton date before the event

domski 19-Jul-2006 00:01

I think some of us have booked this already :borg:

Dominic Clegg 19-Jul-2006 00:03

bit slow with track day thing any way just an idea

ericthered40 19-Jul-2006 00:07

You don't need to do a day there it's just to really long bits and you turn round at the ends and ride back. Just take a packed lunch and a paper with you

I would be interested though as I need to practise me straights :D

its just a cheep day and can make a long weekend of it

domski 19-Jul-2006 10:24

It's cheaper than entering 2 x 6 lap races on Saturday - that will cost you £120 ish for 12 laps.

I would rather do 70 odd laps for £89 ;)

antonye 19-Jul-2006 11:06

As Eric says, you can easily learn this one:

Over the line, count to 50
Quite fast right, don't back off
Straight for a bit then 90 degree right hander
Long straight. Have a cuppa. Wait a bit. Bit more. Bit more. Wave at spectators.
Fast left then quick right.
Lean it over. Bit more. Keep going. Keep going. Wave at Marshall. Wait a bit.
Brake for Esses, flip flop through the chicane, back onto the straight.

You not using the Bombhole and Corams this year then Ant?

TP 19-Jul-2006 11:24

You don't brake for Riches!

You're not carrying enough speed down the straight then! You need to work on your exit from Russel's ;)

Yeah, just lean it over and keep it pinned.

Although I really shouldn't be giving away my home-round knowledge, should I ?

Snetterton was my local track for many years and is probably one of the cheapest in the country, so I have done more laps round that track than I care to remember!

It's not a very difficult track to learn because there are really only 3 corners in it. Just tag along behind someone slow, like Domski, and you'll be fine.

domski 19-Jul-2006 11:45

Book???

You were there Tonio!! Try your memory

I'll have £20 on Antony to win then, he's a circuit pro :o

We just remember from last year - you've been killing too many brain cells it would seem ;)

domski 19-Jul-2006 11:51

...and when you remember it, try to remember Geoff's lap, not your own!

andyb 19-Jul-2006 12:04

I haven't gone anywhere :frog:

Incidently, do you check the results?

See the lap times? Ali - who only started racing last season - was only 0.1s off Geoff's lap record at Combe, and I broke the race record in race 2.

Just how amazing was Geoff?

My bike hasn't been to Baines either, ho hum!

Basically because he's full of **** mate. IT's easy standing on the outside looking in and thinking "they are only doing Inters group, i could thrash any of them"

however until people like this have the balls to step up and have a go and KNOW the person next to them is giving 100% they are simply pathetic.

Those that CAN... do..... Those that can't....talk **** instead.

Now as you know, i've never been a true advocate of DD as a series for a few reasons, however i can respect the guys out there that are putting it on the line week after week.... Far more so that the muppets who go round on a 999R and say "i'm quick, i could do that".

I didn't realise he thinks he's too fast for us ROTFLMAO, some of us do ride in the fast group when on our more powerful bikes, I'll keep an eye out for him sometime. Altho as he rides a little 400 he is gonna have no chance at all :)

Grib 19-Jul-2006 14:41

There's more than a few of us that thought DD would be a bit of a soft touch as the lap times don't look much on paper. Once you get out there and try your hardest on your 50-60bhp missile you start to realise how bloody hard the front guys must be pushing these little bikes, on, at best, vague feeling road tyres. Anyone who thinks it's a piece of p*ss and nothing more than a steady trackday with flags is so sadly mistaken it's untrue.

*steps off soap box* :)

weeksy2 19-Jul-2006 14:42

mate, on his 999 he laps slower than Phils 583 on any track based on times i've seen.... that's almost 3x the power..

So joking aside andyb why the attitude towards dd ? Why the constant digs at the lap times ? Surely you should be impressed that a low powered bike on non sticky tyres can go so quick ?

weeksy2 19-Jul-2006 14:48

I wasn't joking Tony....

Lets have a list of Andys best laps round any circuit and compare them to the DD laps from this season hey ?

:)

Come on Andy... lets see what you've got lad...

Sounds fair to me, surely no one would have a pop without having the balls to back it up ? ;)

Dominic Clegg 19-Jul-2006 14:52

this has gone off topic here i wanted to see if there was a few of us doing this track day and if there was we could book together and get a discount now

stick to the subject.

Grib 19-Jul-2006 14:53

Not sure if I'm playing at Snett yet, so I'll let you know after Donington :)

Chris Wood 19-Jul-2006 15:45

Now, back to the tangent!
