Donington problems solved I know what the problem is... We've been talking about it on the forum - when we should have emailed the DD email address - how silly of us!!! Anyway, I have just done this... Quote:
I await enlightenment! :) |
Errrrrr....I'm not a member of the RC, and I don't know much about race administration, but are you asking the DSC RC to be accountable for your entries in the SV650 and SoT series being turned down by NE? Kick me if I'm being naive but isn't this between you and NE? If you're asking for the RC to represent your gripes collectively with NE, on the basis that the Club as a whole has more clout than an individual, I guess that makes some sort of sense, but your first paragraph seems to imply that the RC are a usless bunch that won't lift a finger unless you've used the correct DSC channels? Nothing really to do with me so forgive me if I'm meddling in stuff I don't understand - which is more than likely. |
I'm asking the RC to try to contact NE to see what's going on. None of us can get through, and I'd assume that the RC would have access to a number which would be answered. That's all, nothing dodgy going on. Also, you're right to a certain degree when you say about me asking the RC to represent us. It's obvious what's been going on today, and nobody in authority has stepped up to represent their riders and find out what the issue is. Don't forget we're all DSC members here and clearly getting a bum deal. Why is it only the riders who can see this? PJ may be away today (at Donny I think), but Monty has logged in several times, and as a regular reader of the NE forum, he is well aware of what has been going on. I guess we feel a bit disappointed that's all. It's not a Domski wind up. We're genuinely at a loss. I don't think you're meddling at all. I do think that DD riders are misunderstood and thought to be moaning continuosly, which may well be the case - but why is that? |

The famous red phone... |
I only have the telephone number that appears in the entry regs and Dom also knows from his email exchange with Emma at NE earlier in the week that they are short staffed with a couple of people away. Initialy I thought it strange when New Era said the extra races could be had for £25 the same price as they would normally charge for one extra shorter race, maybe they knew at that point that unless you had entered both the races in an additional class they were not going to accomodate you. Maybe they want £50 for the extra race At Oulton when I went to sign on with 2 scrutineering cards for both DD Class A and B they confimed the mixed grid and would only let me in the SVs if I entered both races at £50 as they had posted off my £50 credit note that morning. Maybe one of the MT members of the RC does have a different number to call, but as the extra classes are entered on the basis that you are a full NE member I can't see as there is much that can be done if grids are full of people paying £130 for there grid slot |

How do you know what was said in my email exchange with New Era? I don't remember copying you in on those details Kev? You've been in my house again haven't you  Quote:
Yeah I thought it was a bit odd too. If it was £50 though, you'd have thought they would do what they normally do - accept your entry and write a note saying £25 due on race day. |
This has got to rank right up there alongside JFK and Roswell in the conspiracy stakes, surely? |
Discovery Channel are on their way over tomorrow to start filming a reconstruction ;) |
Who's playing you? Marlon Brando's dead. |
*shoves mouth full of orange peel* "I neeed.....another..pie...to go faster" |
Keep going behatch - this is the only chance you'll get to beat me  Sticks and stones... :D |
Duuuude, ![]() Making predictions is a bad thing...baaaad thing. Anyway, aren't you pulling out of Donington and marching off to lead a revolt in Botswana? |

Dom, if it's of any interest to you there is no special number to call New Era-I got exactly the same response as you-either engaged or an annoying message saying I cannot leave a message so call back later............. Of course I could have driven over-a 100 mile round trip-on the offchance that Jim was there, but unfortunately I had loads of work to do since I have to earn a living. John |
Furry muff. Thanks for replying ;) |
The reason why you all got dropped from SV/SoT is because you only entered for ONE race, ie £25. Because the two races have now been combined into one single race, you would need to pay for the TWO races, ie £50. New Era have assumed (rightly or wrongly) that because you only entered for one race and not two, that you would not want to run the double-distance race... plus the fact that you've only paid £25 and not £50, of course! If you still want to do the SV/SoT class then I'm sure you can pay the extra £25 to get on the grid. |
I'm not sure about that (although if you're right, I apologise). I think it's more likely that due to the fact that the Hairnets and 400's are on the same grid, that there was probably only a few spots left over for SV's and those that entered first, got the grid slots - there are reserves as well. Same with Sound of Thunder. There aren't many club meetings at Donny this year (3?), so people come to race as a one off - filling the grids and of course New Era would rather have their £130 than our (or anyone elses) £50 - and totally understandable. New Era normally accept your entry and ask you to bring the extra £25 - it's happened to me before. That's why I don't think that is the reason. |
I expect a quick poll of those who paid £25 against those that paid £50 along with their acceptance status would give a more indicative answer... |

if thats the case then its even more bollox as before i posted mine off i asked them if it was still 25 quid for the extra race and they said yes. imho they are taking the **** and we need to sort out who we can get the best deal with next year. but it needs to be done NOW. who is meant to be doing it the RC? all the riders? the riders reps? we seem to be a ship without anyone at the helm at the moment. if next years format is not sorted soon. ie in the next month i can see it going all tits up. |

Then I'll be expecting a £25 credit voucher as I've paid £50 and have confirmed entry into the SV class! In all fairness, this issue is to do with NE and not the RC - remember that they only have input into the DD races. It seems like a lot of the problems lay at the door of NE with regards to communication and organisation, but don't forget that we're (DD) only a single class/grid/race compared to the other dozen or so classes that they run, and it is a commercial venture. |
**** me! you got shares in new era. lol yeah i know what you mean but i dont know who is speaking to new era on our behalf at the moment, if anyone, we just need one person to put our point across. i know its a bussiness but from our point of view to maintain DD as a 'cheap novice' series we need it sorted. one free practice, qualifying, and two races is alot more attractive than 10 mins qualifying and one race for someone starting out/on a budget. we just need to find who meets our needs best. we still offer income of circa 5k to someone. new era may well still offer the best for us. i dont know, we just need to find out now. |
As far as I'm aware both PJ and Monty have been, and still are, chasing up JP/New Era about the situation with DD grids, but as for your entries into SV's and/or SOT I think thats over and above their remit. You have the right, as members of New Era, to take that up with them. As Skidlids has mentioned before, don't forget "we" reached an agreement with New Era at the beginning of this season that meant they would give us two races for 583's and 620's providing we gave them enough support i.e. 25 entrants in each class. Although we still vastly outnumber some of the other (very well established) classes for entrants our fledgling series has not been able to back up our side of the arrangement and provide 25 bikes on each grid. Whilst the RC are talking to New Era you should continue to address your queries to the DD e-mail address and see what happens. |
As I've commented before ... part of the problem we are having is that the SUPERCLUB events are a higher profile than is suitable for a 'cheap novice' series. NE are obviously trying to raise the profile even more, and that goes against what the DD class needs. Additionally, if you read your entry notes, NE are obviously having hothead problems - with people crashing on the sighting laps and delaying the whole meeting ... which is again something that DD really does not need either. |
