Brands 13 Sept eve - so who's going ....?

I know there's still 4 weeks to go, and kick-off was only last week. I'm just so excited about this (bag of frogs! ;-), and with over 700 views in the first week I wondered who is going? I've posted up the names already public on the original thread (hope you don't mind). Are there any more yet?

When I rang FE they didn't have me on the list from last year so hadn't written to me with an application form. They only had 5 spare places left so I bagged one but I think you'll find it's going to be fully subscribed, which is great.

I'm busy getting sponsors and am looking forward to it immensely. Just need to stay in one piece at Cadwell, really.

Tonio600 14-Aug-2006 19:22

5 places left????? Arggggghhhh haven't booked mine yet.

Damn, it means I'll have to make a phone call in English tomorrow :(

Annette 14-Aug-2006 20:22

There wasn't an Email. There was a letter to the people on the track the day of the incident. And I thought there was going to be one to the people that attended last year but I think that went a bit wobbly. I'm sorry if anybody got missed:-( . It would be nice if EVERYBODY was there :-)
I've posted it here last week, and it's going out in Pronto so that all those who don't have internet access get it. Dom has put a great add on the DD site. I've been zipping around the country in my little car delivering the details to other people we all know and would love to be there that might not get to see the details otherwise.
There isn't a problem with availability - at the moment.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, and nighty night for now. x

annette, can you check with FE as to who exactly they are booking in as I'm amazed there are only 5 slots left.

just need to ensure you know the majority of attendees.

I also wasn't on their list.

Annette,

haven't got my letter as I am in Spain, can you let kevin know to keep a place for me please.

antonye 15-Aug-2006 12:20

Booked and confirmed, although some confusion on the phone as they apparently didn't have me "on the list" even though I was booked on last year :(

Will see you all there and will have a dig around for some more raffle prizes :D

phoenix n max 15-Aug-2006 12:41

Hi Annette - Lin here.
Can you tell me what the thing is with sponsorship of a place please. I sponsored Dickie Ducati last year as I couldn't make it myself. I cant make it this year but would still like to sponsor a ride for someone in aid of the charity and Dave's memory etc :)
I just want to make sure that if i do then the money goes to where it's supposed to for you.

Let me know hun and then i can pay for a place for someone.

Tonio600 15-Aug-2006 13:36

:(

Sorry Annette, won't be riding this time but will take some money with me for RFH anyway.

I'm booked in the fast group...

..but I wont have my Multi (12k service time) and Butch has said I can borrow No77 ;)
trouble is, he's now remembered he's gonna be on holiday :(
Anybody help bring his bike down or lend me another for the evening
pleeez?

Annette 15-Aug-2006 13:56

Antoine - WHY!? It won't be the same without you! Perhaps somebody can sponsor. Or did you sell your bike? - Which, I suppose, is good news.
Ant - The nice lady at Focused said there was a little hiccup but it's all ok now and all systems are 'go'. Thanks for looking for some raffle prizes. I'm a bit thin on the ground and struggling!
Lin - Thank you. There's another post about the event with the sponsor form and details. You can't time trial or lap time so what the idea is is that you presume you do 20 laps in 20 min session, for example (big fish story to some, I'm sure!). So, on a dry day, if you did 60 laps at say .20p you'd get £12 for R4H. Focused collect the sponsor money and then write a great big cheque at the end.
Chris - I'm sure you'll be ok if you book Monday. I'll keep an eye on availability just in case.

All our favourite people in one place at one time, for a great cause. I predict we'll beat last years £7.5k and have a bloody good evening doing so!!

Tonio600 15-Aug-2006 14:03

Annette I'll be there, just not riding. No trailer, etc... But I'll make sure I'll raise some money for RFH :)

phoenix n max 15-Aug-2006 15:17

Why wont you be riding Tonio ?

Tonio600 15-Aug-2006 15:28

no trailer, etc... But that's ok. The most important is to be there and raise some money for RFH :)

phoenix n max 15-Aug-2006 15:40

Ok - but if you can get you and your bike there i'll pay for the day providing i know they get the funds :)
Or you can borrow my caravan if you can fetch it :)

psychlist 15-Aug-2006 15:43

Antoine, I've got Bradders 3-bike trailer taking up space in my garage.
Don't think there'd be any probs if you want to borrow it mate :)
(although he's trying to stop people buying his Mondeo by giving the trailer away with it!)

phoenix n max 15-Aug-2006 15:45

I see a plan forming ;)

Tonio600 15-Aug-2006 15:45

thanks for the offer, I'm sure we'll find somebody who can bring their bike to the track and that you can sponsor.

phoenix n max 15-Aug-2006 15:50

I'd happily sponsor you my french friend - if you can make let me know - the fee is yours :)

Pav 15-Aug-2006 16:01

Excuse noob questions but having read through this thread and come across 'incident' / 'last year's list' / sponsorship, is this a special evening of some sort, limited to anyone in particular, or can I book?

Cheers,
Pav

Annette 15-Aug-2006 16:14

That's ok 'noob'.
David was a Ducati nut, and raced Desmo Due. There was an incident on Cooper Straight, Brands last May and Dave died. If you look at the track day posts you'll see the original one from last week with the attachments that explain what we did to pull our socks up; raise a glass to him and have a bloody good time - raising some serious dosh for R4H. The nice Jonathan Palmer of MSV and the lovely Kevin of Focused make it possible, together with DSC/DD chaps and chapesses, CSS and DUK. You are welcome. We all know each other, and most people knew David. It's not advertised as a trackday. There's no trackday loons. It serves a common purpose. It'll be a giggle.

Annette,

I am seriously considering signing up for this extremely worthwhile event - just one question: is it limited to DSC people only or could I bring a couple of (non-loony) friends to help support the cause?

Cheers,

RX

Annette 17-Aug-2006 08:23

It they're ok with you, they're ok with me. Thank you!

SlowLearner 17-Aug-2006 11:00

Stoopid questions.

Hi !

Have read this thread and this seems like an ideal opportunity to turn up and meet my fellow DSC members.

I was coming along to a Surrey rideout.... until i had a small off :-(

Still bike is back now and am keen to get into the DSC thing.

My question is : Whats the format?, i dont really understand the Track/Social aspect, is there an option to ride the track??

Am very much a novice so am a bit afraid of the track if i'm honest

Steve

Annette 17-Aug-2006 11:13

Steve
Have a look under the trackday threads at one called 'Dave Harris bla bla bla'.
It's a track evening. But its all about having a great time and making some money for charity. If you only want to go out on the track for one lap or if you want to go nuts and do 60 laps, either way, if you enjoy it and it makes some money for R4H, then that's great. The social side is that we all get together (whether on the track or in pit lane); I'm trying to get some raffle bits and bobs together (badly); and we'll end up down the pub raising a glass to my man and and letting our hair down. Come along. It's a great chance to just pay £59 (all of which goes to R4H) and if you go out and you don't like it, then at least you can say you've done it.

'Scuse me for butting in...but if you really didn't fancy the track aspect, you could certainly just come along, meet loads of people in the pit-lane, take a chance on the raffle etc. It would be a great opportunity to have a look at the trackday format and see if you fancy it in the future.

As you can see in the above posts, there are a fair few people just coming along for the social bit (which, of course, is free with the option to contribute to R4H if you want to). Or, as Annette says, £59 is a cheap way of having a go on track for your first time and it all goes to R4H.
