Cadwell 2 days-how was it for you? As the title says-everyone who I managed to speak to liked the 2 day format, same goes for all the people Lizzie spoke to-so, do we stick with it and do the same again next year-or go back to a single day? I am asking since I will have to book the track soon-and yes before you ask we do have to work that far in advance, which is why we cannot tie it up with the DD races as we won't have any idea of those dates until next year. John |
Being my first trackday I was quite relieved I hadn't signed up for the 2nd day....! But I will next year - I'm still having trouble believing its not a dream. Haven't enjoyed myself that much in a long time. Shocked myself at times with how quick the little multi can go, especially in the corners  |
2 days is brilliant. More tracktime, more memories, less travel, etc... Will do it again :D |
Well judging by the ache in may shoulders, neck, legs and hips today then 2 days is too long. From the slight oil leak around the engine on my 996SPS after being caned to within an inch of its life lap after lap then 2 days is too long. From the lack of sleep, quantity of food and beer consumed, cost and the amount of work waiting for me when I got back then 2 days is seriously too long. As for next year? Book me in now! It was superb, I enjoyed every minute of it, less travel, no rush if it rains, plenty of time to try different bikes etc, hang around with your mates and have a laugh, even the showers are ok at Cadwell! Top 2 days all round :D |
Great Fun :) |
Excellent, maybe I'll realise early enough to get my holiday chit in time  Can we avoid clashing with the Popham Mega-meet next year please John ;) |
excellent 2 dayer, should definately be on the calendar - and tied up to a weekend just like this one, as AK now needs the rest of the week to recover (he has unloaded 2 bikes, 4 wheels, posted here a bit, had some lunch and is now slumped on the sofa again! ) Just an idea - if there is a chance of getting a marquee for everyone to get together in for the evenings, that would just about be the icing on the cake (or even the use of the club house?) :) |
I could only just get up after one day, nevermind two (oooh, me legs!) ;) If it's a two-dayer next time round, we'll do our best to stay for the whole lot. Would have done this time, but we didn't book until the last minute and had work stuff to do :( The Monday was great fun though. |
2 days please mister, or a week...... |
Yep, its been a great weekend (i call it weekend and now on monday work blues...). Where do I book for next year!!!! It was worth booking my holidays to make sure I was back in time. Many, thanks Andy |
Well that’s it over for another year sadly. Would have to say that Cadwell 06 is without doubt the best DSC trackday so far. The two day format is simply brilliant. Means you can spend serious time feeling your way into the groove, and if it’s a bit wet, then no problem cos tomorrow will be better. Can’t thank Monty et al, enough for the privilege of being allowed to instruct/marshal. That said, my whole body is screaming at my foolishness today. I ache just about everywhere, even my eyes! To my recollection, there were only about 5 sessions in the two days that I didn’t go out on either the Black Beast or Elaine’s little Monster. I have no idea how many laps I did, but I used over 70 litres of fuel and a set of slicks. This despite using the Monster for most of Tuesday when the Beast started to weep oil into the belly pan. Although it was very slight, I didn’t want to risk it becoming a torrent and depositing yet more oil on the track, and of course my ass! General highlights have to have been seeing the wheelie muppet get bollocked by Wee Johnny and listening to that gorgeous Supermono. Personal highlights have to have been seeing peeps benefit from my, albeit limited, experience. One in particular improved enormously after I suggested he paid more attention to his lines than getting his knee down. This was slightly surreal though because we had the conversation with my mate JR butting in with a few tips of his own! I quite definitely felt way under qualified to be telling ANYONE how to do it with him looking on. It was also somewhat disconcerting having him standing on the circuit watching me, but I did get a few good pointers from him. He in turn felt it somewhat surreal watching his helmet belting round on the head of some fat bloke! Thanks also to Butch for the superb little duel we fought in one of the last session on Tuesday. I strongly resisted getting into any such battles for most of the two days, but when Butch came past me, on that simply gorgeous little blue bike, I just had to get stuck in. I was on the Monster myself I hasten to add. On the downside, I was quite shocked at the standard of some of the riding I saw out there, and several folks asked me to have words with a few. Those who I did speak to all took it well, and most asked me for a “follow me” session and I hope they benefited from that. Overall I was a little disappointed at how few people were prepared to ask for instruction. To those who didn’t, there’s no shame in asking for a few tips and pointers. I regularly seek out Wee Johnny and ask him to help me through various problems I’m having. I long ago accepted that I was not the track god I wished I once was, and that there are people out there that have awesome ability, and we mere mortals can learn from them. But let’s take nothing away from the event, it was organised brilliantly, the weather was, on the whole, incredibly kind to us. Off’s were remarkably few, and I think only Kwikbitch actually hurt herself. The Virgins had a blast, mine improved to a 3.06 on the second day AND hit most of her apexes, but it killed my wrists doing that on the Beast, should have borrowed Logyk’s S4 again! Biggest grin had to be the fast sessions I had on Elaine’s Monster. Now I can see why the DD boys have a blast. Ducati Monster – The thinking man’s racebike! So that’s it for another year sadly. If I can fix my oil leak I’ll be back at “The Park” again in a couple of weeks, no doubt seeking out WJB and see if I can finally get some decent speed through the woodlands, I know I’m a sissy over the mountain, but I’ll live with that. See you all next year! http://www.motorapido.co.uk/dsccadwe...ti_cadwell.wmv |
Best 2 days I've ever had on bikes...excellent value and gives more time for beer, banter and talking bollix as well |
THANKS TO ALL THAT MADE THIS HAPPEN! WHERE DO I SIGN FOR NEXT YEAR. I don't get out much to ride / socialise so made the most of this one. I got 17 track sessions in 2 1/2 days ! Track reflections- DD #10 - The retro Baines Imola got loads of attention in the paddock. I started to get comfortable on it over the two days and enjoyed playing with the other DD'ers - apologies to anyone who felt we played a bit close. 748RS - After the big end 'went' at Brands last year it was a first run out after a £2500 rebuild. Running in was limited to 9000 of 11500 revs made things interesting....nothing under 6000 then over it goes rev happy. Started to really enjoy it and reminded why I put up with the fragile beasty. DUK S4RS - the 100hp Couch - This was a bizzare experience, suspenders were way to soft for my style and I bounced around a full fast session, feeling like a wind sock down the straights and a cowboy through the turns and under brakes. Great to try, but not my bag. THANKYOU: Lizzie - HUGE thanks for the organising of the day Butch - Nice pig Instructors - Nice one DUK - Thanks for the loan of the couch. Eric, Roger - Thanks for the paddock company Ruth - The conversations en route and return. Cadwell team - Well run and pleasant marshals etc. Everyone else - Thanks for the atmosphere. |
#10 is a stunning bike, it's no wonder she got so much attention :) |
Seems like a unanimous 'YES'(so far) then?? John |
YES YES YES YES YES YES Did I make myself clear? |
Really enjoyed the two day format (just as I do with 2 day race meetings) and having a quiet Sunday afternoon to travel up on was also a bonus. Any chance MSV could get some electric hook ups or paddock lighting installed before the next one, its a lot easier to socialise when you can see whos who. Found both days very relaxing away from the pressurs of a race meeting and as a result of being able to relax neither my arms or my legs are aching, which considering the amount of tracktime I put in does suprise me. Great to see the virgin track session ran on both days and certainly made it worth the hassle of fitting the M600 into my van alongside the other 2 bikes so that Trudi could get out in both those sessions.. As I said I liked the format although I didn't take advantage of the Non Ducati bike option on the second day, so same again next year please. As for venue I'm perfectly happy with Cadwell but also willing to experience others. |
Fantasico. Book me in for 2 days next year - despite my thighs screaming for me not to do 2 days back to back ever again! :) |

Mine to mate-mine to, can hardly walk down stairs at the moment........... John |
Put me down for another two days please ! |
So would I mate-two problems. 1/ cost-Oulton is 80% more expensive than Cadwell 2/-The main one-their operating licence only allows them 1 bike event each week so we couldn't get a 2 dayer there for love nore money-shame but there it is. I don't actually think we could fill a one day event at Oulton-I tried this year and had 10 people put their name down for it when at the same time Cadwell was more than 30% full-so I had to pull the event. John |
Big thanks to Monty, Lizzie, all the MT and all the DSCers who made this a trackday to remember. I ran out of steam at lunchtime of day two, called it a day, but a two-dayer gets my vote (next time I won't ride 600+ miles the weekend before the Monday, may last the pace then!). One highlight amongst many will be sharing the scrutineering bay with the Supermono. That was some privilege - I met John Hackett and chatted a bit, what an unassuming chap he is. If you read this John, thanks for the present! :) Big-up to Gilps for joining the DSC and being a laugh. Many, many thanks to Ian Harris for sorting the fuel. You and Richard had a hell of a good time, by the looks of your tyres :) Good to see Ian DCR again, a lot of laughs there, you do get yourself into some situations don't you? (The airbed, I mean ;) ) Thanks for the bun mate, I was really flagging. Jools and Fordie, good to see you guys again, I'm still waiting for a reply to my last twenty applications to join the BHCN. ;) Thanks to Mike (Rally) for helping me sort my right-hand mirror, sorry about the language mate, that thing always gets me emotional. AK and CK, you guys are irreplaceable, thanks for the hospitality and cake. And thanks to everyone else who was there, for making the event completely special. If I don't mention you by name, apologies, but my brain is still frazzled! Bring on another two-day DSC Track Attack! |
Only did the one day this year, but def, seriously consider 2 next, bring it on Monty, same track and format. |
Loved it..... Just a quick note to say loved the Tues at Cadwell, the old Senna loved it too even if she was still being serviced at 11 the evening before....lol Good to put some faces to names and everyone I spoke to was polite and easy to get on with, which was good as I went alone my usual trackday fiends sorry friends being either in Germany or keeping 'the business ticking over'. So thanks to all and yes next year I'll have 2 days, and now I am a member I'll get the beers in, shout your orders plse !!! Just how many new members are there after the event ? Seemed Lizzie was very busy as I tried to sign up, well done for keeping cool Lizzie !! Thanks to all. |

I am aware of that Ian and it wasn't a go-it was actually quite helpful as it allows me to explain what can and can't be done now rather than have 153 similar questions posed over the next few months. Basically the only tracks that are suitable for us are Cadwell or Mallory in that they are reasonably central, camping is available, not too costly-(you don't want to know how much Donington cost's to hire), noise isn't too much of a problem, friendly etc etc. When you then compare Cadwell with Mallory there are other issues. Mallory is easier to get to, but once you are in the paddock you are stuck since you have to use part of the circuit to get access-so no late arrivals. Noise is more of a problem-especially at night as they have lots of close houses-so no loud disco there then. The track itself I find a bit too simple to be honest, Cadwell is much more technical so there is more to learn which keeps the interest up. The circuits available are: Brands-you having a laugh!-£12,000 a day(Indy) +vat+NOISE Donington-last time I checked about £14,000 a day!+NOISE Silverstone-ditto Oulton-£11,250 a day and only one a week for bikes-NOISE Snetterton-£7,500 a day, probably could camp-a bit too far south & east Rockingham-about £9,000 a day, slippery when wet-we had 13 fallers there when we ran it in one afternoon-8 at the same corner I think!-no camping Castle Combe-no chance Thruxton-no bike trackdays-ever! Pembrey-Very too far south and west-like the other side of Swansea! Croft-too far north Anglesea-Ditto Knockhill............ Bedford Autodrome-wonderful track, only 13 miles from me, major noise problem-like they only ever ran one bike trackday(I was there) and had noise complaints when everyone was riding a road legal bike.......nice layout though. Lydden anyone?-no I didn't think so. So we come back to Cadwell and Mallory.................... John |
I would like to say thanks to everyone who made it happen. I had a fantastic time , best one yet .I was intending to do just the one day and hang around to watch on the tuesday . Had so much fun on the monday booked for tuesday as well . More fun on tuesday . Nice to meet new people and to put faces to the names on this forum . |
Great format - the 2 days allowed a pretty relaxed approch to missing the odd session, greatly contributing to the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Would strongly support CK's suggestion for a bar/social/seating area to be set up on the monday evening. For those without circus tent, mobile workshop, bike shop, Beckenham Palace motor homes etc, the hog roast thing became a question of trying to blag somebody's chair in said palaces, or retreating to our humble little tents in the dark and distant yonder for a cub scout type evening - still pretty enjoyable despite Arkala (sp?) failing to join us, but somewhere to hang out and eat would have been better...? |
My first DSC trackday, and the 2 day format gets a huge thumbs up from me as well. Because you're there 2 days you don't feel you need to put yourself under pressure to get out and make the monst of every bit of track time, if you miss a session it's no problem! The social thing in the evening worked well too, Hog roast was truly excellent, sign me up for next year as well! Would much prefer Cadwell to Mallory. |
cadwell 2 days how was it for you? great fantastic 2 3 4 5 6 7 days next time good times like that should go on forever |
Special :D |
Yup, top day all round for me Monday. Couldn't do the Tuesday :( I think I would have been completely immobile if I had anyway. Deffo' for next time work rota allowing. BTW What's the website name of the main man with the BIG Nikon & F2.8 400mm who walked miles and took some superb shots from the quick look I had at the raw data Mon eve? Buy lots of pix guys, this man deserves lots more than he is getting from the mags. I will be. Plus he's as good as the Gold & Goose set up. Sorry **** at names. Ains. |
|
thanks for a fab 2 days I had an excellent time, still not recovered. Big Thanks to Dibble for lending his bike - especially since he wasn't even there, and Doug for bringing it up for us. I wasn't booked for day 2 so when I got talked into doing it I had to find bikes to ride. So thanks to Rally, Everton, Skidlids, AK/CK and Whele - finally talked me into taking out his R1. I'm glad you can get Cadwell, it has to be the best, most fun track ever. Thanks to all the hard-workers for organising. Really appreciated it all. Catherine |
I'll add my support for the two day format. The Monday evening relaxing with Pig'n'Pudding was very nice. I even enjoyed the c-c-camping (and I thought my camping days were over!). Quote:
No worries. Glad that I was able to help. In fact, thinking about it, it was the nearest thing I had to doing a bit of spanner work the entire trip. The lil 748 behaved impeccably despite the gear selection abuse I gave it (RACE SHIFT!!). I apologise to anyone who was following me down Park Straight when I forgot which way the lever should go :o Quote:
You seemed to enjoy it Catherine :) Thanks to you and Gary for the chats & keeping my beers cool in your fridge :D Roll on next years! |
I have really enjoyed the two days. Both the 916 and the Ns400r worked well and no probs or scraps. i would sign up again for the two days and Cadwell would be great, after seeing the prices of the other course's and the benefits well out class other tracks. I would also be asking for more advice regarding my riding and style from the many talented riders i have seen. Very impressive. Can't wait for the pictures... |
It was good seeing that little NSR out Andy, glad it went home in the same condition it arrived in-made me wish I had got my finger out and brought the TZ250 out to play-as did riding Mutters RS250 Aprilia. John |
I wish you'd got your finger out and brought the Wee Beastie as well.....I was going well on Tuesday, it would have been fun to have taken her out, never mind, there's always next year. Your NSR looked lovely Andy, you don't see many of them about mate. WeeJohnyB |
Me too, you said I could have a ride Monty you b u g g e r! |
What can i add, i think most people have already echoed my thoughts, I just got home about 3 hours ago, the 18 hour ferry trip over to harwich was full of suspense of what the two days would bring and how i would cope with it, I arrived late saterday afternoon at my brothers house (Chris.P) in lincoln, Sunday was spent setting up the bikes, unfortunatly his 748 was playing up so we decided to run my 996 back to back in fast and inters, Monday was a blast and despite the wet start the day turned out to be a good one. Tuesday morning dawned with good weather and all looked good for the day, A new set of tyres were sorted for the 996 and Chris.P was running a loned bike all was going well untill a loose nut dumped oil and the bike was put in the trailer for the rest of the day, My other brother had shown up so a quicik word with Lizze had him booked into the novice group so my bike was running in all three sessions, unfortunatly the last inters session of the day saw me joining two other riders who had come off at Charlies. (not sure who you were guys but you looked lonely sat on the tyre wall that i thought i would join you :) ) Bikes were packed into the trailer and an eavening spent discussing the two days and watching the on bike film we had taken, a 4 hour drive down to harwich saw me crashed out in my cabin for the duration of the crossing back to Denmark. Two days on the track and being able to put faces to names and chat to some of them was well worth the ferry cost, role on next year is all i can say. While i would still settle for a one day event, two days is awesome and would get my vote every time. Let me know the dates in advance so i can book the ferry and i will be there. |
Wasn't there but heard and read so much that I'm looking to join in next year! Depends on getting my act together and having the use of both arms by then ... |
