Manx DD GP? The DD bikes are eligible for the Manx GP, albeit against 600cc/1000cc machines, but would anyone be interested in doing the Manx GP on a DD bike? You'd get mullered, but its all about the craic isn't it? Two weeks holiday racing around on public roads! I started racing in 1997 with one thing in mind - the TT. I've never gone and now have a much stronger feeling of self preservation. If I was to do the Manx nowadays, I'd rather do it on something slow, can you imagine riding a superbike around there? :o No ta! There are 3 classes you can race in, Newcomers (Monday), Junior (Wednesday) and Senior (Friday). Your thoughts? :) I'll just add, that a 65bhp DD bike must be able to crack 100mph, which is pretty damn respectible! |

do you think a dd bike would go the distance... think of the closing speed of a litre bike on a dd bike...:o I love the place - would like to live there! I love the TT and manx, but it's the cruelest event in the world. best left alone, on any bike. |

Maybe we can get a 'Ring round sorted too ;) :D |
DD at the TT What about a Manx/TT DD only race or parade lap. |
I was asked by my mates dad yesterday when was I going to do the Manx, but with more and more friends getting injured or worse over there its a little off putting. But we have discussed going to ireland and doing the Skerries and Killguest1 ( http://www.loughshinnymotorcycleclub.com/ ) and taking on Liam and his SV650. At least the free entries would help offset the travel costs |
A parade lap would be good, who knows how we would arrange/organise that tho. Always wanted to do the manx but not sure I would now altho doing it on the DD bike would be good :) |
Racing in Ireland Preston and District motorcycle club regularly receive entries from Ireland and are in the process of organising a reciprical deal for 2007. They also run a class for 350cc - 750cc bikes (no supersports). Drink real Guiness and race bikes. oooh. |
I wouldn't mind a parade lap, but don't fancy a full on race there. A few too many walls and stuff for my liking :) |
As DD has no History associated with the Island the there is very little chance of a parade lap for DD bikes. I may take my R6 back to the Island one year for a Parade lap as it finished 21st in the Junior TT and 24th in the Proddy 600 in 2003. Not sure my Class B bike would enjoy the climb out of Ramsey and up Snaefell and for most of the circuit I would prefer to have a pair of properly set up adjustable modern forks in the front if trying to ride it at any real speed. |
