Thing's I learnt at Snett... All, Snett was: My 35th birthday. My Dads second only race meeting, over from Aus for 6 weeks. Qual - Ok as expected, round the outside at Coram in the wet is silly. 1st Race - Great start, avoid kangaroo Sheppard. First lap, last corner, run wide, try to power over the rumble strips, large mud filled puddle hole! OUCH! Dad fixes bike. Thanks to Rattler, AK, Ali, Kart guy with welder, etc. 2nd Race - Great start, lapping well, Antony and Eric to busy scrapping to go quickly, Andy joins in the fun, swap, swap, swap, Eric slow around Coram, I try the outside 2 laps in a row, cant make it....try the inside next lap, Eric and I meet at the same apex!!!! Bang, stand bike up , bang, stand bike up, I see grass.......then wake up in ambulance????? What happened? Dad collects me from med centre, I was unconcious for 10 minutes??? Bit sore today. Thanks to all who asked after me and came to see me after the race, I probably didn't show how much it helped. Sorry to RED flag it for all. Thanks to Eric for understanding my error. It messed his race up. Can I have the win though?, I was in front the previous lap? LOL Can I at least have the fastest lap? Please. Just noticed Andy was quicker in race 1....******r... That's it for 2nd or 3rd for me in 583, ****ed about that! Well done Dom and Phil, and everyone else. Roll on Cadwell. Roll on 620. |
You looked proper beat up after the second crash, glad you managed to get up and about again! |
Just glad you're OK Chris. You had us all crapping ourselves in race 2! Happy Burfday :o |
4th-5th gear around Coram, what do you think, 80mph? or so....that's probably my quickest off.... No wonder I hurt. |
There's one birthday you won't forget! Glad you walked away - never good to see someone laying in the grass. |
Glad you are ok Chris |
Heard about your off - Glad to know all is ok - ish. Get better soon :) |
Just goes too prove you cant keep a good bloke down , glad you are OK chris and a belated Happy Birthday 2 U................... |

You're a tough fugger though - glad all's well. And belated Birtday wishes mate. Tim |
Nice to see your back up and sorted ! |
Just eat more cake next time you want to celebrate your birthday mate ! I cant take that again ! It was just so good to see you walking out of the med centre looking a bit bewildered but otherwise ok. Your dad has quite a story to take back tho ;) |
cracking to hear your all a ok chris |
At least you learnt that doing a handstand on the tank isn't the way to save the bike ! 1st crash looked awful, I was amazed you got back out and am glad you are ok if a little bruised and sore. 10/10 for style :) ;) |
Relieved you're ok, Chris. It's dashed inconsiderate of you to knock yourself out like that. Us spectators are on the edge of our nerves seeing DD racers bin it. Doing it twice in one day is just hogging the limelight. The least you can do is stay conscious, get up and wave. I'm sure all of us are very relieved you landed on your head, thereby doing no real damage. Although I think one DD racer might be thinking he'll knock you out cold for saying he was 'slow' round coram next time he sees you  |
bloody drama queen. |
Chris, very relieved that you're safe and sound. What's the outlook for Cadwell, you and the bike fit? |
Phil, that was uncanny, it sounded just like Chris! :D |
Cadwell on a 620? I thought you was on a 620 already, as you passed me on the back straight we looked at each other as you drove by....;) I thought, wait for me... Didnt know it was your birfday mate, you should'v said... Many happy returns. I am gutted for you and your Dad, you tried so hard for the win, in fact 110% doesnt even get near.... Hope you heal ok, thats the last I'll see of you if your doing the Gucci class... and we was having so much fun passing each other, your a real racer mate.. Andy |
Not met you yet Chris, But was real pleased when I heard you were a bit goggle eyed, but ultimately ok. To be honest, I was having a real hard time holding Ali Bisson off to claim my first top 5 finish (had to prove Nick B wrong! :frog: ;) ) so when you got it red flagged, you did me a massive favour. Come and say hi at Cadwell, I owe you a beer. Cheers, Tim :) |

How do I get this rubber off my leathers, Micron and seat unit? I've been soiled. :o I've got to say when you came past in the bloody ambulance after the race ended was the worst feeling for me. The thought that the guy that had made Cadwell such a top weekend for me could be badly hurt really shook me up. Far more than the collision, leg riding or unbelievable speed on grass. I looked back to see what had happened to you but I was up at the start line on the grass by then and couldn't see back that far. :o As soon as I saw you in the garage looking as well as could be expected after what must have been a massive off. I started to feel like I had to get back out and ride all the emotions out. Still couldn't get any faster round that Coram though probably only doing 30 or 40 I recon  I think you will be one hell of a force on that 620 Cris, good luck with it. So pleased we are typing this mate, now about this Cadwell I dive for the apex at charlies Two slowly, got it. Rattler on the other hand, go's real wide :frog: |
hi mate didnt see you all weekend. i felt real sick when i went by seeing you lying there i knew it had to be a red flag when i couldnt see you moving. hope you be okay for cadwell as i want a race for 4th place in class B |

You've got Wood :o  |
All, Thanks for the votes of support. I am still in a daze....body hurts, huge bruise on my right leg where my footpeg tried to penetrate me in crash 1. I have NO recollection of crash 2, after hitting Eric, and leaving skid marks. Dad really enjoyed the day and commented on the great DD / DSC people. It was great racing and well done to all. Lets not forget Andy's first DD win, another new trophy winner. He's a 'proper' fast novice! 'Power without control is nothing' See you at Cadwell, celebrate another succesfull, enjoyable DD season! |
[quote=Chris Wood]All, after hitting Eric, and leaving skid marks. You had them as well did you? I have decided to leave the rubber on me leathers and just inscribed the words, Chris Wood was hear 3/9/06, on them. :D |
Hi Chris, really glad you`re ok. You picked the fastest corner on the circiut to try out that grass track technique and I have to say I admire your nerve for it , but next time use the maize field at Riches - it keeps the bike upright for longer ! Hope to see you at Cadwell. |
