Fil2's 583 Championship Thanks and Retirement After 9 wins 2 seconds and a 3rd i have Lifted the Class B 583 Championship. Its been a great year of racing for me, with great battles with 583's and 620's, mentions to Woods,Roberts and Payne who have kept me honest all year. I wont be racing the 583 at Cadwell so good luck to you all in your final races. Thanks to : - Nelly at cornerspeed for stripping and rebuilding the 583...I have thrashed the life outa the bike 100% of the time all the time and it has performed without a single problem. Its a testament to Neils skill in putting together Championship winning bike. Thanks Neil Tim, my Cornerspeed teammate has offered me tactical, mental and friendship throughout the year. I could not have done it without your support. Thanks Tim Most of all to Kelly and fordie who have been by my side in the 2 years i have been racing..supported me in everyway without them i could not have done any of it...im sure they are tired of me talking DD..LOL....you guys make it worthwhile. lastly to all the DD guys in the paddock....its a great place and the support / comradre is exactly what the dd is about. Mentions to Dom,Chass,Ali,Tony,Lu,Karen all the peeps basically......Weeksy for offering me support behind the scenes 24/7..thanks man Thanks for it all lastly......I wish Kelly the best of luck for her 583 debut at Cadwell.... Phil #2 2005 3rd overall 2006 Class B desmodue Champion |
Been a pleasure to follow in your tyre tracks...albeit from a long way back :D I'm sure you'll be awesome on the 620 next year too :) Well done Champ. |
Very well done !! Well done Phil, on to bigger and better things perhaps. As an outsider looking in you appear (to me anyway) to embody the true spirit of DD and are a notable and enthusiastic ambassador for the series. ps ... good luck Kelly, hopefully Brenda and I will be at Cadwell to cheer you on and the rest of the DD gang. |
Good on ya phil Now you need to slow down and learn your new craft for cadwell ok!!!!!!!! good luck to kelly aswell spoke to one of your road riding buddy's and hinted that kelly's a damn fine rider indeed |
I think you should reconsider - you've clearly under-achieved in 583, - 2nd and 3rd places!!! - get a life!! You should refocus your efforts, stay in 583 and not make the big jump to 620 until you've won every round!!! Power is nothing without control Nice one Tim |

She certainly is, she'll go great at Cadwell no doubt :) |
Why couldn't you have retired before the FIRST Cadwell round? I think any of those of us with aspirations to be at the Class B sharp end will be the first to say that it has been your consistancy and determination on top of the obvious skill, which have made you a worthy Champion. I for one look forward to renewing the competition next year in Class A........ |

Hah ! A Rattler Rattled ! An unforgettable year Phil. Respect. I just wish I'd had a chance to see you on the track more often. Just when I start to ride the 620 fast enough to keep up with you on the 583, you get an even faster bike  |
Nice on buddy, really enjoyed chasing you all year.... Absolute consitently quick, from the go, every track every race, you have ridden a faultless 2006 race season, no off's or moments, and it's not been 'easy' for you. From this inconsistently, erratic, competitor, following you has been a good lesson. Pleasure to watch and learn. Let's get it on next year then.... |
Congrats Phil, excellent riding all year. It's just a shame that now I've finally managed to get you behind me in the races, you're about to come and get in the way again! |
Well done Phil. Timing of DD events (coinciding with RTL, loads of work and holidays etc) has meant that I haven't been able to attend a single round this year. But I have followed it with interest and I've been quietly pleased that an all round good guy who I ride with on the road (and at Cadwell) has been so successful and won the championship in fine style. |
Many congratulations Fil, your an inspiration to us all !! I have you to thank for me getting involved with DD right from the off with the offering of a ride on your spare bike. You've helped me every part of the way, be-it entering races to comparing track technicalities. Your gonna be awesome on that 620! and that yellow No2 is still gonna be at the sharp-end by what I've seen. Well done ;) Andy |

to think next year Ill have you both beating my ears on the way back home with tales of track day darings. Im proud to be part of the team and love every minute of it. I should be thanking you , for the experiance of it all and being able to mix with some great people in DD paddock. 4D |
Well done mate, that's an impressive performance you put together this year. (and thanks for not doing Cadwell btw  ) ;) |
yeah well done phil, cant add anymore about your riding skills etc etc than has already been said. looking forward to being on 'level' terms with you next year. give me something to aim for! although your riding was great, the highlight of my racing year will still be the 'strudel' incident from assen. priceless. |
Well done Phil, can't say anything more than has already been said, except good luck for next year, good luck to Kelly etc. Hope to get to some of the races next year to support you both Martin |
Yeh well done :0 And retirement....from 583 or from racing ? |
Congratulations Phil, you've been bl%dy awesome all season and if it wasn't for mixed grids you'd have been even more dominant (IMHO). I really do hope that you stick with racing in 2007, coz I think we can make DD a real specticle next season - if I can keep up!! Big respect to you dude. :) |
Well played mate. You certainly know how to hustle the old 583 around a track. It has been great to watch. Any tips you can pass on to me will always be gratefully received!! Good luck to Kelly at Cadwell. |
Phil do I take it you are frightend of my little squirt at cadwell then!!!:) |
Mate, congratulations on your win - you've raced hard and always wanted to win, despite the **** you sometimes spout ;) You've set the standard for the 583 class and I've always been impressed by your focus and determination. Well done, you deserve all the plaudits. |

Top banana You've done it your own way and you've taken the championship - excellent work Phil. I remember at the start of the season at Brands in the wet watching you change down at the bottom of Paddock Hill for the climb up to Druids - you were the only rider to do that. I thought then that you were bringing a different way of riding to the series, thinking hard and trying new ideas. Good Luck in all you decide to do :) H |
