Photos PLJ Is it just me or are this lot incapable of standing in the right place to take a good action shot. All the Photo,s from Snetterton feature everyone accelerating out of the Russel chicane, not in it.How borings that.Coming round Coram thay are taken from the outside when all the action is either head on or from the inside. The pictures from the first corner surely want to be at the apex/knee down point and so on. The second corner and right hander of the Esses are good points but along way from the paddock i guess. Shows how good some of our amatuer/intrested snappers are to capture some of the photo,s they have. Thoughts anyone! |

I agree. I think Mutters and Jess (mine & Otei's floozy :o ) took the best pics I've seen from Snett. Mutters also did some great ones from Oulton, and Chass's son Alec had hundreds of decent pics from Donington. Pete Wileman (guy with photo's on the day) and PLJ were disappointing. I've only had 1 pic off PLJ this year, and it was a real close up from the inside going through Shell Hairpin at Oulton. I don't understand how they all seem to pick such poor areas to take pics. Thank god Guy is doing Cadwell!!!!!!! |
Example... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not even in the middle of the shot in most of them!! |
PLJ photos of me at Snetterton are ****, I shan't be buying them. |

Sorry to hear that Zimbo. I have to disagree with you, though. I got 2 great pictures of Antonye for his birthday and a smashing one blown up to A2 and framed for Ali's wedding present, which was lucky because it will be a long time before that bike looks as smart as it did at Oulton Park  I also found Paul to be very friendly and helpful. |

I've bought photos from PLJ before and been happy, it's just the Snetterton ones which have failed to enthuse. Hopefully the next lot will be better and I'll buy some again, I'm not going to buy photos of me sideways on travelling in a straight line, and almost all the photos they took of me at least seem to be pretty much exactly that. |

Weave around a bit then ;) |
Just my two-penneth for you folks........ Whilst I agree there's a helluva lot of snappers out there who simply rely on their kit to get a clear shot it still requires a brain to get an interesting or action packed shot. I've found over the years that that's what separates the men from the boys. It's still the case at BSB level....sadly. In my view, to do it right takes a great deal of homework to identify the opportunities at each circuit. You do have to know the circuit and know how bikes go around them (or sometimes don't!!!). With that knowledge, you can then head for those places and then use your camera knowledge/skills (which as a minimum, hopefully you've got) and get the shots. With all the hassle I have to go through to get a media pass and then retain it, it does gall me sometimes what I see around the circuits on the National tour especially when that shot gets in the mag/media rather than my hard-thought out one. Cest La Vie I guess. In this case and in defence and fairness to PLJ though, Snetterton is a cr@p photography circuit really. I think the only way I got a good haul of shots there from BSB was that the riders were going out of their skins and they're travelling at a greater rate of knots than the club racers. That counts for a lot when it comes to actions shots and lean angles. That said, with some imagination and good fortune with light, you can get half decent shots of anyone, anywhere... Gc |

I think that modern technology plays a part, but you have to have an eye for when to hit that button. I think as you said, having some imagination can make all the difference, even at a bland corner such as Russels. Jess took these snaps at the Snett weekend. They haven't been cropped or zoomed in on in any way.So they could be made even more impressive. ![]() Nice mirror image shot. ![]() A spot of Ballet at the bike racing! ![]() ![]() ![]() She got loads more like this as well. Even more impressive once you've met her in person as well. |
